I rather like this name, though it's so very 80's and the spelling vs pronunciation seems kind of tricky. It confused me for a long time and still feels rather illogical that Lindsay is pronounced LIN-zee but oh well, that's the beauty of language that it's not always logical! Lindsey makes more sense phonetically but Lindsay in turn looks more aesthetically pleasing to me, or Lyndsay. Yeah, I think I'm going to choose Lyndsay as my favourite spelling, I like Lyn- names generally. Lindsay/Lyndsay has a very graceful, friendly vibe to me.

A school friend's little sister is Lindsey, but she's always called Lindy. Lindy's best friend is, and is called, Lindsey. So I grew up with a vague sense of confusion! Lindsay for a boy, Lindsey for a girl. Not that I've met more than one male Lindsay ... and that was before it becam popular for girls. Not sure about a linden connection. Love the tree, though, and the sound of the name Linden. I also find Linda genuinely pretty in spite of being dated to the 1940s-1950s. But realistically I don't think I'd use any of them: there are too many names I like more.

My roommate...her name is Sarah, right? Well, she has this friend also named Sara (this spelling). So yeah, whenever they get together and I want to talk to my roommate, I sometimes have to say, "Hey, Sarah-with-an-H!" lol

Silent letters ... !I know of a group of Barbaras, long ago, who were apparently known as Babs, Barbie, Bibbi, Barbara, Bam-Bam and Fleisch (which was short for her ln, Fleischmann)! They were all in the same class at school. Must have driven the teachers quietly insane.

I like Lindsay, and prefer this spelling. (I also prefer it as a feminine name, even though it was historically masculine.) When I was a cringe-y teen I liked "Lynsea" and even used it as an online pseudonym for a spell, but luckily that phase passed quickly.Nowadays I actually like Lynn more, though.

its ok, I think predominately Lindsay is the male spelling, Lindsey is the female

I think the name is attractive but too popular rn. Lindsay looks mannish to me and Lindsey looks girly. I didn't know it means linden tree.

Lindsay is a family surname along with Fraser, Graham, Nicholas and Clarke. I quite like Lindsay and it is the first name of one of my female cousins who was born in the 70s.There are multiple spellings of the name though Lindsay, Linsay, Lindsey, Linsey, Lindzi and Linzi all be used.

I don't know why but I have never liked this name. I think maybe it's got a whiny or snivlling quality to it that other names like it, that I do like, like Courtney and Ashley, don't have.

I never saw the appeal, even back when it was popular. I've always thought it ugly. I once saw it described as the 80s Leslie, and that makes sense, since I've always found Leslie ugly as well.If I have to, I prefer the spelling Lindsay, for no reason other than it looks a tad nicer IMO. I work with a Linzie. WDYTO that spelling?

Linzie is spectacularly ugly.I once had a colleague named Lynsey; she explained that one of her parents wanted Lynn and the other preferred Lesley (the fem version where I live), so Lynsey was their compromise. But there's no forgiveness for Linzie.

...unless one parent liked more traditional names (like Linda) and the other preferred more trendy names (like Mackenzie)... Linda + Mackenzie = Linzie! lol (of course, since Janice's coworker or whatever was probably the same age as her, I suppose this isn't as likely... but a girl can imagine, right??? lol)

Hi Perrine !!!I much prefer Linden (unisex). I really like the association. I dislike the sound of Lindsay. Lin-zee? No. It's horrible to my ears.Anyway I prefer the spelling Lindsey because of the violinist Lindsey Stirling.

I don't *like* it, but if I have to pick from a pool of dated 80s/90s names, Lindsay is somewhere closer to the top after Caitlin, Lauren, Megan, and Stephanie. It's certainly better than Ashley, Brittany, Kimberly, Amber, etc. It's less substantial than Jennifer and Jessica, but the sound is prettier.I don't have a spelling preference. Now that I think about it, I associate the name with Lacey. There was this huge boom of Laceys in my home city when I was a kid. It was like every girl was Lauren, Lacey, or Lindsay.

LindseyIt's OK. I definitely prefer it for a boy. It feels like one of those names that girls hijack, make it trendy and then run it into the ground to the point that no one wants to use it anymore. Why does that always happen? Anywho... I prefer Lindsey. And I do like the linden tree association.
