What do you think about Brinley?
I think it's one of the prettier newly popular -ley names, I just don't like the meaning.

I am surprised it’s been more popular in recent years because it seemed like it should have peaked in the early 2000s, as a successor to Brittany, Ashley, Brianna, etc. I think it sounds very dated and has almost no substance; just a mashup of a popular prefix and suffix. I was kind of disappointed when a friend of mine named her daughter this recently because I find very little to like about it. :/

I secretly like Brinley. I even (gasp) like the name Brynlee. It's definitely trendy, but I don't think it's a monstrosity. It's just a typical English last name ending in -ley. There's nothing particularly special about it, but it sounds cute to me. But what do I know? I also like the name Paisley!

Here in South Africa I only know of one Brinley, and he is the son of a South African mother and a Welsh father. I've got no idea how or why they picked the name; the mother comes from a family with a tradition of naming children with A names, and this couple went on to have daughters named Alexandra and Abigail. Maybe it was a family name on the dad's side, or maybe they just thought that B was close enough to A!

I would never use it, but I was quite surprised to see how many people hate it ;)
To me it sounds like Bryn + Lee and I do like Bryn a lot and don't have problems with the -ley/leigh/lidh ending as I do like Eilidh a lot. So I thought it would do a lot better here than Paisley or Kaylee. To me it sounds very nature-y and calm.
But yes, it is very trendy and I can understand it's not popular here, just expected this to fare a bit better ;) I wonder if I should have asked about Brynlee instead, maybe that brings up a different image?

I think people here by and large hate Br- names. I'm not sure why. I do too.
I can see the appeal of Brynn if I give it some thought. It's kind of romantic, kind of poetic.

Just another, boring, trendy, juvenile "-ley" name. I don’t care for it.

I don't like it at all. It's very juvenile and tacky. It's hard to take it seriously or imagine it on an older individual.

Nope, don't like it. Brin-leeee is all I hear. Good name for a pet.

I wouldn't even name a pet Brinley. It's a horrible sound.
