[Opinions] Ruby

I LOVE the name Ruby. It was actually my fave girl name for years and years and it gives me a sweet, old fashioned, gemstone vibe. I have a teenage niece with this name, hence why we didn’t use it ourselves.
I love it. My husband and I named our rescue pup Ruby a few years ago since we had other girls names we loved even more for our real children haha.
My first thought would be going for a Ruby Murray which is slang in the UK for a curry.
The name Ruby started really climbing in popularity after Charlotte Church had her daughter in 2007 and named her Ruby. I really liked the name up to that point. Now other names have taken its place in my likes.
Ruby sounds cutesy girly to me now along with Jade, Crystal, Emerald and Garnet

I’ve never liked it. I don’t like the way it feels to say it, and it’s too close to the word “rube”, as in an unsophisticated, ignorant person. Like a “stupid is to stupidly as rube is to ruby“ kind of thing.
I like this name. I like the combo Ruby Eloise. I get a demure, stylish vibe from it. It feels young and modern to me (modern in the sense of being on trend and fashionable). I think of Ruby from Supernatural. She ended up not being the greatest character (ethics-wise), but she was a fun character in the sense that she was a clever, funny, and tough woman who could kick butt.
I really like this name, I find it cute, sadly it's very popular.
I went through a phase of really liking it, it was even one of our top names if Archie had been a girl... thankfully he wasn’t and we didn’t call him Ruby because I really dislike it now! I’ve met a lot of people with dogs called Ruby which put me off, and I find it a little childish-sounding without a longer more formal name to go with it.
I did see a BA once for a Rubinda who went by Ruby as a nickname which I thought was quite nice!

I think it's lovely
Beautiful! One of the best IMO. I think of an artsy, fashionable, intelligent girl in her twenties.
Nicknames could be Rubes, Roo, Rue, Bibi.
