[Opinions] Henry, Alexander, Charles, or James? (m)
You can only choose one for a son. Which would you choose, and why? What would you use for a middle name? (It can be anything, doesn't have to be from this list). **Starfish and coffee, maple syrup and jam/Butterscotch clouds, a tangerine, and a side order of ham**

AlexanderIt's gotten pretty generic, almost dated, but it still sounds good. Kinda like Victoria.
I could call a son Alex in real life. Not sure why I didn't - it was on the list, just wasn't grabbing me at the time.Henry gives me a "rube" vibe, James is smug and prim.
Charles is nerdy, but he could be Charlie. I almost named my son Charlie. I'm glad I didn't ... I mean, it's a cool name, friendly, modest, but I think I wouldn't have liked calling my son it. Or seeing him call himself it. Somehow.Alexander is hard to make combos with because consonants combine with the der part...Alexander Laurence, maybe.

AlexanderWithout hesitation. It's a very strong, handsome name with lots of nickname options. I've always been an admirer of it. Henry: Although I think it's still a very decent, practical name, it's my least favorite from the list. It's a very tolerable name, but I just never really loved it. Charles: This would probably be my second choice, even though I slightly prefer Charlie. (:James: Very decent. However, this name would never be an actual option for me as it's my nephew's middle name. But in hypothetical terms, it would be my third choice. (:

Henry or JamesI’ve never really liked Alexander. Charles is alright. but I prefer James overall. For Henry, I would go with Henry Isaias. For James, I would go with James Everett or James River.

James, definitely. I've always thought Henry was kind of whiny, Alex is boring, and I don't like the way Charles feels when I say it. I don't really like Jim/Jimmy as nicknames, but Jamie is cute.I'd probably name him James Frederick or James Percival.

I’ll go with Henry as it’s already on the top of our list, if we have a son one day. I’d choose Henry partly due to it honouring my late grandfather, partly because I’ve always loved the sound of it and the vibe it gives me, partly because there are a lot of interesting characters called Henry and lastly, because it would fit my daughter’s name. The full name would be one of these (but I can’t choose).Henry James
Henry Edward
Henry Emmett
Henry Karl (honourary plus I love it)
Henry Niels (honourary plus I love it)
Henry Arthur
Henry Hjalmar
Henry Wilfred

Alexander JohnI already used Henry as a middle name. I love Alexander and James. Charles is ok but I wouldn’t use it.

I like all of them except from Charles, and I did use Alexander as one of my son's middle names. It's a name I've loved since I was about 10. I don't really care about it as much these days though, I guess I've gotten a bit tired of it. If I had to name a son one of these today I'd go with James.
Maybe James Per Oliver Zacharias as a combo. Yup, that's a lot of names.

James Alastair StephenI dislike Henry. Charles is OK as a mn, but Charlie is awful. Alexander used to be wonderful, but over-popularity has pretty well killed it off. James is a classic, impossible to go wrong with it. Not exciting, but steady and reliable.

AlexanderMy current favourite combination for the son I hope I never actually have is Alexander Horatio David - I just love the way Alexander sounds for some reason and it's got a nice history of use in Scotland, Horatio is a little bit of a guilty pleasure right now, and David is my dad's name.I do really like James as well though!

Alexander "Lex"Full name would be: Alexander Marino Constantine I like James too, but the possibility of using Lex tipped the scales in favour of Alexander.

CharlesI really love Charles, I teach one and he's really lovely and funny.I'd go with Charles Maximilian or Charles Ambrose

Charles Peregrine. Not a fan of Charlie though.
James would be an option (and I like Jamie) but my cousin's son is already named James. I think Henry is ugly and I like the full name Alexander but I don't think anyone could get away with "just Alexander".

HenryI'd opt for Henry Auberon, Henry Wulfhelm / Wolfram / Wolfgang, Henry Balthazar, or Henry Issachar.

I’ll go with James Nathaniel.
Or maybe James Montgomery.I like Henry as well, but Charles and Alexander are blah and boring.

Henry.Charles - this is 100% Prince Charles to me :( I also dislike Charlie.
Alexander - I hate this name with a passion. It's so unattractive and Alex is so dull.
James - nice name, awful meaning. Couldn't use it.Henry is nice and classic. Henry Conall.

HenryHenry Oscar or Henry Sebastian. It was a close choice between Henry and Alexander. The other two weren’t even in the running.

I do like all of these names, but I think I'll choose Alexander Gilbert Matthias. I might call him Alex sometimes, but I'm not overly fond of Alex.

This is too hard! Ugh. I guess I'd choose Henry. Henry Alfred. I love all these names, though I am not as crazy about James as I used to be.

James "Jim / Jimmy" River or Felix (can't decide)I'd choose Alexander but I'd feel awkward using my brother's name lmao
