[Opinions] Re: Isabel and Isabelle
in reply to a message by Perrine
I think a little charm has been lost due to Isabella fever. I still love Isabel (my preferred spelling) a lot, though. It's just strikingly beautiful, imo.
If Isabel(la) wasn't so overused, I'd name my first daughter Isabel without a doubt. As it is, I might go for Annabel or something else. I love Annabel but it doesn't have quite the level of elegance for me that Isabel does.
When I was a teenager, I was desperate for two daughters named Isabel and Anna, and if there had been a third, Grace. At 35, I still like this set. (The Anna and Grace as sisters thing doesn't bother me, though I probably wouldn't use Grace these days anyway.)
Isabelle is still pretty, but it's overly elaborate. Isobel is nice, but as far as I know, it doesn't really happen in the US. Isabeau doesn't do it for me.
