I'm not really a fan of either but I dislike Odile even more. Odette at least has a better sound and appearance among the two of them.

Odette is better. Odile looks like "crocodile". It seems flimsy and insubstantial. They both feel nickname-ish. But Odette has more substance. They are both super dated in France. Odilia is quite nice.

I’ve always liked Odile better, it’s more sophisticated and interesting. I’m not crazy about-ette names.

It's more mysterious and svelter than Odette, which I also love.

Both are uncomfortably balletic; I'll go for Odette, the White Swan. I once taught a blonde Odile, and I kept on getting her name wrong. She never knew why.

Mind you, I think Odette is ugly as a monkey's armpit, but at least it isn't as ugly as Odile, which looks like the back end of a crocodile.
