It's cute, though I prefer it as a NN rather than a given name. One of my closest friends has a son named Nico, not short for anything.

I think it could work for a boy or a girl, though knowing my friend's son, it comes off a bit more as a boys name to me.

I like it. I've met at least one Nico who had that as his full name, otherwise I've seen it short for Nicolas or something like that. I don't think it would work on a girl unless it was short for Nicola, Nicole, etc.

I like it as a stand alone. It has a little more edge to it than Nick and Nicholas, which have become kind of boring. It's masculine. But there was a 1960s era German chanteuse who called herself Nico. It worked for her. She ran with the Andy Warhol crowd.

Nico is the standard nn for Nicolaas or Nikolaas for Afrikaans-speaking South Africans, so there are a lot of them around. I've never seen it used as a name in its own right, but why not?

Definitely male only; Nicole and Nicola people become Nicky, Nicks or Nic.

100% male to me. It works fine on its own. Nicodemus would be my fav full name if you really would like Nico yo be a Nn.

My favorite combo is Silva Nicomedes

Nicholas, Nicole, Niccolo etc. Seems a bit incomplete on its own.

It's a full name for me personally because it was popular here as a full name in the 80s, 90s and 00s. I find it dated and I always thought Niko looked much better. Boy.
