It's too close to "rumor", in my opinion. I don't like it. Romy is much nicer. You could also use Rochelle to honor them. Or even Rachel.

I’m pretty sure that’s Beyoncé’s daughters name? That’s the first thing I think of. The name isn’t bad, but I’m personally not a fan. If it’s to honor somebody, why not? I’d give Rumi a 5/10.

I know Rumi to be a Japanese name and can be short for Rumika or Rumiko. They are gemstone-names.
I think it's cute, but you might want to consider it's a real name from Japan :)

Rumina?
Rumina, while also a Japanese name, was also a figure in Roman Mythology and both instances of the name are unrelated.

It's cute but short. There is the poet Rumi but I don't think there's anything wrong with naming a girl after a male poet. Gender bent names are a thing.
What about Rumiana? It's a feminine form of Rumen, includes parts from Ruth and Michael, is long enough to look "full", and can have the nn Rumi.
There's also Miruna which has a cool meaning and includes Mi and Ru.

Agreed. I would also argue that it's culturally insensitive to use Rumi. Just because it's cool to share badly translated Rumi poems on Instagram doesn't mean you can use it on a child.

I must confess that I am oblivious of the poet, I’ll look him up.
That said I don’t see how using the name or nickname Rumi is disrespectful. Would it be considered disrespectful as well to use name your daughter Bronte?
I’m not trying to argue, but I’m curious.

Using it as a Japanese name, if you're Japanese, is fine.
