Margot sounds less dated than Margaret.

Margaret, definitely. It’s one of my favorite names. I like how Margot looks, but I dislike the sound.

Margot, even though I prefer the spelling of Margaux. Margaret sounds so ugly to me :(

Margot hands down. I never cared for Margaret.

I adore both, but I've picked Margot over Margaret today, since I adore the former just a tad more than the latter today, so that's my reasoning for that pick.

Margaret, in English, has a long and distinguished history and a variety of nicknames to suit every taste.Margot, in French, is no doubt fine.Margot, in English, is a recent arrival with a pleasant association with Margot Fonteyn - but that was a stage name, picked because it was exotic. Not being French, or in need of a stage name, I wouldn't like being a Margot, though I'd be a Margaret quite happily.

MargotMargot by a landslide. Margaret feels old and stuffy, Margot feels fresh and fun.

I prefer Margot (and its variant spellings) because it seems more spunky and youthful than Margaret which seems a bit dull and prude-ish to me.

I prefer Margaret but only if I can use the nickname Maggie. Otherwise Margaret is just too heavy and dour. Margot is slightly more refreshing to the ear.

Margot, but I’d prefer Margo even more. Margaret is just sooooo frumpy to me and dated in a bad way!

Margaret. No contest.

I think Margaret is pretty, but I prefer Margot. There’s something about Margot that’s just really cool, but also extremely dated.

Margaret seems so classy. I like the sound of Margot, though it seems a bit nicknamey to me, but I hate this spelling. I always want to read it as maggot.
