I like Elissa. I could say it either to rhyme Melissa (more intuitive to me), or as 'el-LEE-sa' and it's nice either way. Better with one L just because two double consonants in one name never looks right to me. If it rhymed Melissa I would interpret it to be very similar to Alyssa. But I knew an Elissa who pronounced it el-LEE-sa and it never occurred to me that it was like Alyssa - it reminded me of Elisa instead.- mirfak
