Year 1Location: Avondale, ArizonaDH: John Theodore Hemmingly (30)
DW: Laura Augusta [nee Hudson] (25)Newlywed John is a communications officer at the Air Force base in Phoenix, and Laura is a Visitor Services Manager at the archeological park. During a tour of the archeological park, Laura fell at one of the dig sites and twisted her ankle. It was a pesky injury, but resulted in her being stuck at her desk doing mostly administration work for the next few weeks.-----------------
Year 2John and Laura decide to adopt a dog. The young dog is part German Shorthaired Point and Border Collie, named Cali.-----------------
Year 3John's military contract reached it's end, and he and Laura had to decide whether or not to reenlist. Ultimately, John decided to leave the military. He and Laura decided to take a leap of faith on a life change that they had talked about for quite a while, and decided to move to San Jose, Costa Rica and serve as missionaries.-----------------
Year 4John and Laura love living in Costa Rica, and feel very fulfilled in their position there. This year they decided to adopt a few goats.-----------------
Year 5During the spring, the couple learned that John's father died suddenly. John and Laura went back to the states for a while for the funeral and to help out John's mom with the transition.
