[Opinions] Re: Kathleen, Joan, Beverly
in reply to a message by Raya
Kathleen is... interesting. I perceive it as rather dated - from my mom's generation - yet I've known two Kathleens my age (born in the early nineties)! Neither went by Kathleen, though: one was Katie, and the other was KC "Casey". (In the case of Katie, I knew her from second through eighth grade, and only found out on graduation day that her legal name was actually Kathleen.) It's not a bad name by any means - I actually prefer it to Caitlin & Company - but of all the Kat- names, my favorite is still Katarina.Joan is definitely a former super-popular name (as in, every other European girl in the Middle Ages was Joan or her language's variant) that fell by the wayside. Jane is more popular these days, but still not reaching those heights. Joan by itself can be a bit severe, though I'm fond of the nickname Joanie.I love Beverly. I don't care if it's "dated," or if Everly is seen as the more feasible option today (though I do like Everly as well). Beverly is awesome. I like the nickname "Bev" too.***Please rate my personal name lists:www.behindthename.com/pnl/69381
