[Opinions] Natasha, Nina, Nadia
So, the other day the name Natasha floated into my head and it's kind of stuck with me. It's not a name I'd normally like and I've known many, many Natashas growing up. It's always struck me as kinda plain, unadventurous, former-trendy, very middle of the road... heading towards dated. I've known people who've considered it "trashy" or "cheap", not my opinions but I've never really cared enough to disagree. However, as it popped into my head I got this idea of a refined, classy but rebellious and fiery woman, the kind of women who might have been called Natasha when it was less popular, maybe she's a fierce revolutionary for a cause or just a covert passionate free spirit... and I sort of really like that image.
So what do you think of Natasha? Or variants like Natacha (a bit more interesting than Natasha)? What names would you pair it with to get the vibe described above - more refined, more fiery, maybe more retro? I was thinking names like Vivienne or Genevieve, delicate names with a retro vibe which could be worn well by strong women, but that's just me. Or what more unusual, exotic names would you pair it with to make it less... everyday? On the theme of N names, I was also thinking of my frequent favourites, Nina and Nadia. I do think Nina is a bit...very.... simple, but I also think it's quite lively and spunky, and Nadia is favourite as I think it could suit just about anyone. In the past, one of the very few possible names for future children an ex and I agreed on was Nadezhda "Nadia" and I still really love it and would be tempted to use it.
What do you think of Nina and Nadia? What combos would you make with them? I feel like Nina needs to be made fancier and Nadia needs to be brought down to earth with combos, but that's just me.Finally, what do you really prefer: Natasha, Nina, or Nadia?

Natasha: 5/10. The original impression of it is a pure, sociable, warm-hearted, and sometimes rich girl, kind of like Natalya 'Natasha' Rostova in 'War and Peace', which I like; it's got a 'trendy' (and sexy? It's not what I want but now it does feel sexy to me) vibe nowadays, similar to Sasha, Tanya, and Tonya. Overall I like it, but not a lot. I prefer Natalia.Nina: 5/10. Yes, it's a bit too simple, but has an interesting sweet feeling because of the N's. I prefer it as a nickname for Antonina, Saturnina, etc.Nadia: 5.5/10. Good; it would be more substantial and appealing if it's not originally a diminutive. So for me, it's Nadia > Natasha = Nina.Combos I like:
Nina Eliza
Nadia Augustine

Haha, now you mention it, Sasha is another name I've previously not liked which is growing on me. I just think it's way nicer on a guy, but Sasha (m) gives me such an 'attractive guy' vibe that I could never use it (and sort of have a weird soft spot for stuff like Shurik anyway). I think a mean-girl edgy Sasha (f) would just make the name cool though, even though I hate that persona.
I actually really dislike Natalia unfortunately. Every nice Natalia I've ever known has been "a Natasha" if that makes sense, they've never really gone by or suited Natalia. And although not a bad name, it just feels a bit 'extra with frills on top' even to me, a person who likes extra and who likes frilly names.Saturnina is neat as hell. Not useable on a person, but I'd use it for a character in a heartbeat.I'm loving Nadia Augustine as well, that's the kind of clunk I think Nadia needs and Augustine is austere, beautiful and unusual but not too unusual.

Nina Mauricette is so unexpected and I sort of love it. It just popped at me, it's the kind of name you can't ignore.Natasha Dominique is pretty cool too. I know a Dominique and she's so confident and cool she sort of scares me, so that definitely fits with the vibe I was thinking of. I also quite like Nadia Paloma. Paloma now strikes me as quite artsy and airy and free-spirited, and Nadia Paloma is quite whimsical to me, but I can't deny it's pretty. Marguerite / Margarita / Margarida and so on are all names that have been used quite liberally in my family to the point of being 'family names' and now I'm sort of wondering if Nadia Marguerite / Nadia Margarita or Nina Marguerite might work...

Nadia Paloma was Ariane’s idea. I listed Nadia, Paloma and Natasha here:

People created other combos too.Nadia Marguerite / Nadia Margarita / Nina Marguerite are great!

I love Natasha. I think it has two vibes at once: the mentioned "trashy" vibe, but also a "quirky and born rich" vibe. I think Russian names - and especially diminutives - lend themselves very well to eccentric aristocrats. I don't like Natacha, it makes it looks... confused. Natascha, however is bold - I don't particularly like it but I respect it.
For middle I like Natasha Simone.I'm not too fond of Nina. But I get strong "thinking outside the box" vibes from it. Also, Nina on its own is miles better than as a nn for any longer name. I think this name works best just on its own but some combos I enjoy would be Nina Celeste or Nina June.Nadia is one of my favourites. I know one who's middle name is Olga, so how's that for bringing it down to earth? XD She hates it, and it's hard to not notice how aggressively eastrn european the combo comes across so I get it. I personally don't think it needs any bringing down, after all it's already a nn for a longer name, which doesn't give it a very elevated feel. I like Nadia Marceline or Nadia Pearl.

Haha, I think the eccentric aristocrat was also part of the vibe that popped into my head with Natasha, a bit... fiery and revolutionary, in a way where it's easy to be fiery and revolutionary when you don't have to worry about keeping food on the table and consequences are a thing that happen to other people. Natascha is neat, way better than Natacha.I, on reflection, sort of also think Nina probably should just be Nina, maybe trying to make it a nn waters it down to a point where its simplicity is...too flimsy. It's trying to make it more than it is which takes away from its charm. And I kinda love Nina June. I've always loved June's earthy almost-clunky vibe and it really adds substance to Nina. Not gonna lie, I unashamedly love Nadia Olga. Olga's not my speed, I won't really argue with those who call it 'ugly' but it does bring Nadia down to Earth with a clunk and I am there for it, haha. Aggressively E. European is one way of putting it, but I also think it's great. Nadia Marceline and Nadia Pearl are both beautiful.

Natasha: Natasha is the name of my cousin. It’s a decent name. I don’t think she even has a middle name.
Nina: Nina was the name of a girl who was my friend during my summer camp days. She was cool. I’m not a big fan of the name but it’s not that bad.
Nadia: I really like the name Nadia, it’s nice and overall cool.

Nadia Vivienne, Nadia Genevieve and Nadia Laurel all call to me and I don't know what that says about me but maybe it says I will pair Nadia with anything haha. And Nadia Juliet and Nadia Gabrielle. I'd actually love Natasha Laurel too, but I'm not sure if they work together or if I just want them to work together.
