Thanks for your reply! It makes me quite sad I can't use Barnaby and Winifred too. I am working really hard on him though. I think with the unfortunate associations of his Chinese name he is trying to avoid us using a name he thinks has teasing potential.Of your suggestions I like:Mariana Celeste- I love this, but our surname begings with a "t" so it wouldn't flow very nicely.
Mariana Charlotte- super, but ends in "t" too.
Mariana Eve
Mariana Sylvie
Mariana Violet- my husband thinks Violet sounds too much like violent.
Mariana Alice- my sister is called Alice, it might be nice to honour her.
Mariana Sophie- my sister (my sister Alice not my sister Laura,I just realised I have mentioned them both) has claimed Sophie :(
Mariana Pearl- you know I hadn't thought of Pearl. It is going on my list!
Odelia Constance (prefer Ottilie) I prefer Ottilie too by miles. My husband says it is silly if you aren't French and people will mispronounce it :(.
Odelia Marie
Odelia Violet
Odelia Celeste
Odelia Christabel
Odelia Catherine- my Mother's mn is Kateryna so I might be more inclined to use a "k".
Odelia Mary- I've never been a huge fan of Mary. My husband likes Marie, Maria and Mary because of the religious undertones (or overtones, depending on which way you see it).
Odelia Ruby- so sweet!Celestine Adele- Maybe too much "el", but I like it
Celestine Leonie- I love it!
Celestine Marie
Celestine Violet (I never knew how versatile Violet is as a mn)
Celestine Matilda
Celestine Eve
Celestine Lenore- I really like Lenore, but I still think of the washing powder. I considered Leonora, but my sister is called Laura and I think they are too close.I really like some of the boy names, particularly:Bartholomew
Edmond
Noel- my father is called Noel Patrick
Laurence- but again too close to Laura for me
Linus
Phineas- I added this to my list yesterday!

I know Ottilie is a French name, but perhaps if he came to see it more as part of the charming, old-fashioned name trend, like Millie, Lillie, Natalie, Isabelle and Josephine. What about Ottilie, nn Tillie?Anyhoo, I'm tickled that you like Pearl so well. I had a funny feeling when I typed the combination. I'm not sure if you're considering it as a fn, but I thought I'd pass on my favorite Pearl combination. I saw a little girl in a magazine once named Pearl Ann-Marie (or was it Pearl Annmarie?). Similar to your Mariana, no? Pearl Marianne? If you wanted to honor your sister Laura, how about Daphne? Celestine Daphne?

I'll test out Ottilie with him, our tastes in names are just not compatible and how much time we spend thinking about names is rather different too. I like Tillie ever so much, and I quite fancied it as a nn if I used Matilda. He said no way though, I'm hoping I might still be able to get it into the mn position.I'm not sure when I'll be naming a baby, so for now it is great fun to have a wonderful list without my husband spoiling things. Being the person I am though, I have to talk about the things I'm interested in and he brings me back down to earth with a thump.I love Pearl Marianne, I think Pearl has great potential actually, good instincts! I'd never thought of Daphne I think it could work. Thanks again. :)
