I like both of these names a lot. They are in my top male names. I would probably choose Francis because it is less common than Louis/Lewis. If they are both nice sounding, then I go for commonality.

I always liked Francis.
I don't like the pronunciation ambiguity with Louis. I like Lewis more, and I like Lou / Lew.
Francis is somehow more my style. I've never favored Louis. But it'd be weird, honestly, if my son had been named Francis. I'm glad I didn't.
Louis (Lewis) would have fit better. I just don't like it as much, on paper.

To be practical about it, I'll choose Louis. Pronounce the S. Or spell it Lewis, if that's allowed in this game.

I'd have trouble choosing between Lewis and Francis. I like them both and would happily use either. But Louis, pronounced Looee, does less than nothing for me. And using the French pronunciation when the rest of the conversation is in English is a no-no.

Francis. I love Louisa for a girl, but I’ve never really like Louis for a boy.

I would choose Louis; Francis has always seemed like the name of a bully to me. I don't know why; it must be some childhood association I have with the name.

I like Louis pronounced both the French and English way, but where I'm from it would be said "Loo-ee". I also love Lou as a nickname - it would be an honouring name for me as well, so Louis is the clear winner.

I like the sound of Louis better than Francis, but I like the nicknames Frank and Frankie better than Lou and Louie. I'd probably go with Francis since nicknames would be used more often than the given name.
