[Opinions] Rate the Nicknames Others Call You
This is from a couple month old meme on twitter, but it seemed very BtN relevant. Rate your own name(s) and then rate the corresponding nickname(s). People in the replies add your own lists or rate others lists of nicknames :)My names:Cecil 10/10 picked it myself, suits me, whenever British people say it it's excitingCarolyn 8/10 solid name, served me well, isn't Caroline, very phoneticNicknames / What Others Call Me:Kajina 8/10 childhood nickname, family still uses it. Very average diminutive. Nostalgic.Kája 9/10 another family nickname, very average diminutive. Extra point because it's gender neutral.Carolamb 10/10 nickname since high school, friend made it up for me. This nickname included a cute cartoon drawing of me as a floofy lamb.CE 6/10 I get slightly confused why people call me this, then I remember I keep just my initials in my insta bio. Cool, but not catchy.Ceelion (like sea lion) 11/10 The friend who nicknamed me Carolamb 8 years ago asked to come up with a new animal-based nickname when I started going my Cecil and it was the most affirming and fun thing coming up with one. 1000/10 allyship.Carebear 6/10 Another high school nickname which is fine, but too cutesy.Hedgehog 10/10 not actually a nickname, I just thought a friend was calling me hedgehog when he was actually talking about a hedgehog TO me and I just assumed I got a new nickname and rolled with it. Fun experience, would recommend mishearing things as a method of getting new nicknames.Caroline -1/10 Not my name. Every time I ask Americans if they've ever been to "Brookline" New York, if that's how they're going to pronounce my name.Carol 5/10 also not my name, but also infinitely better than Caroline. Not my name would usually mean 0 points, but it is related to Carol from The Price of Salt, and is therefore cool.

Calista - This is my given first name. 7/10. It's pretty and unique, but sometimes feels a little to frilly for me.Marie - This is my given middle name. 5/10. It's an okay name, but I despise it's usage as a filler mn for girls. I used to occasionally go by it when I was younger.Cal - This is my chosen nickname. 9/10. It suits me. I would honestly rather go by it, but it's hard to get people to do so without telling them I'm not actually a girl. Cece - A nickname given to me in middle school when my friends couldn't pronounce "Calista". 8/10. It's simple and cute. Budget - A nickname given to me during middle school robotics club. I now use it as my summer camp name. 8/10. Kids always ask why my name is Budget. It's great.Bridget - A mishearing of Budget. 5/10. Nice enough name, but it's not mine.Echorin - A screenname I chose in early highschool. 9/10. I like it a lot. It just sounds nice.Echo - A diminutive of "Echorin". 6/10. It's nice and short, which makes it quite convenient to quickly type out. It's a tad overused though.Lithium - A screenname I chose in middle school. 7/10. It's silly and kind of nerdy, but I like it overall.Chorus - My BtN posting name. 8/10. I chose it because I wanted that was more mature but still featured similar sounds to "Echorin". Callista (pronounced Cuh-yih-stah) - A joke about why my name is spelled with one l. My mother is Hispanic, and in spanish, two ls make a y sound. 4/10. Dumb but kinda funny.Doggie - The summer camp name I had before "Budget". 6/10. It's cute, but I feel like I've outgrown it.Calistabear - A nickname given to me by my father when I was very young. 8/10. Adorable, and will always be special to me.Cali - A nickname a few others have tried to give me. 5/10. It's never really stuck. I don't really have an opinion on it.

Wil: This is what my friends call me in Poland sometimes as a nickname for Wiluś, but I mainly go by my middle name Anders which was after my grandfather. William: I gave up when I lived in North America and went by William instead of Wiluś, and I always had the nickname Wil. Meh, I don't think it actually fits me, even though that's what my mother originally wanted to name me and I'd have Anders as my middle name or vice versa. The other nicknames are a bit too personal to share because they're from my grandparents and Fiance :D I'd share, but I can't right now, maybe soon. Autumn: 8/10. Not the prettiest name in the world but it suits me well. The eighth grade edgelord in me enjoys how it can be interpreted as being somewhat gothic. I like that it doesn’t end in -a as well as it’s soft yet distinctiveness. The downsides are 1) children and people who English is not their first language often mispronounce it as Adam and 2) there are no natural nicknames.A: 8/10. Extremely simplistic but I enjoy this as well. It’s sleek and somewhat mysterious. Obviously it is just a letter, but I don’t really see it as much different from Elle or Jay.Levi: 7/10. This is what I use for some video games and on my Discord. Obviously it’s a male name but again, I think it suits me.Azula: 6/10. My old posting name, clearly inspired by Avatar: The Last Airbender. I love the character, though I think she should remain the only bearer.Ani: 10/10. My new posting name. I love it and it’s connection to Armenia, which I have roots in. It’s simple but I find it to be beautiful.Raven: 6/10. A name I briefly used for a video game. I like the name well enough but it doesn’t suit me.
