[Opinions] 2 BAs and a bonus question
Michael Thomas and Amy Marie welcomed Hazel Marie.Daniel "Dan" and Lianna Belle welcomed Norah Belle. Both of these babies were born in the last couple of days and, in both cases, the parents gave their daughter the same middle name as her mum. I have seen other ways that parents have linked their child's/ children's names with their own (Alyx [girl] spelled with a "y" because the mum's name, Kym, was spelled with a "y"; Cyra spelled with a "c" to have the same initals as her mum, Christine; Xanda, Xalia and Xaydan all spelled with 2 "a"s because the mum's name, Sarina, was spelled with two "a"s). So my question is: would you/ did you link your name with your child's name in some way?

I would possibly do it if my name was a family name because then it would be just passing on a tradition.
I wouldn't do it personally though because my name isn't a family name and it has no significance. I don't even like it or go by it. Even my parents don't like it and they chose it. I would name my children something unrelated and that had something important and meaningful about it so they liked their name rather than tolerated it.

gramdma: Esther May
mom: Theresa Marcella
me: Emma May So I have the initials of my grandma, middle name of my grandma, and middle initial of my mom. The closest I'd get to linking my name with my kids is Emrys or Maya. I'd actually want to use Emrys, but Maya is something I'd only use if my SO hated all my other girl names or something. May is too cutesy and Marcella is too princessy. Maybe I'd use E.M. or T. M. My dad's initials are R. A. and I already like a lot of names with those letters.

My middle name is my mother's name, so it doesn't seem so weird, to me. And men do that with naming, all the time.I probably wouldn't do it myself, because I would want more freedom when it came to choosing the middle name.

Probably, probably not. If I ever gave my child a name, there would likely be some sort of sentiment behind it, and a connection obviously, but I’m not sure what it would have to do initial wise. I know sometimes parents give their kids same initial names, but that’s honestly just not for me, maybe twins, but not for me overall. But yeah, that’s all.Oh, and the names are cute.

My daughter's middle name is the feminine form of my husband's first name. And it is a family name for both genders on his side. I did not incorporate my own name. But I might have considered it. My middle name is pretty generic, which I hate. So I wouldn't use that. My own first name rhymes with my mother's. Apparently that was unintentional, though. Maybe Freudian, I wonder? I do know a Pauline who named her daughter Paula.

Sort of, because my middle name, Susanne, is a family name, and I plan on using it as a middle name if I ever have a daughter. Don't know if that counts though.

I'm never having children, but if I wanted them, I would be fine linking my kid's name with mine in some way, but it's not a burning desire or need. I'd just be open to it.Oddly, every serious partner I've ever had, when we had the "kids?" discussion, wanted to incorporate my name into a potential daughter's name, but not their own in a son's name. I thought that was very interesting.I think my first name does genuinely make a nice middle (it's very "warming"), but I wouldn't repeat my middle name the way the two mothers you mentioned did, because I don't care for it as much. I have noticed that's a pattern that many mothers seem to enjoy - giving daughters the same middle name that they have. I have a couple of cousins who did that too. Curiously it's almost ALWAYS done with those filler middles, like Marie, Lynn, Dawn, Rose, heck even Belle is a bit filler. I find it fascinating.

Hi !!!!I like Hazel, Amy, Belle and Nora (without 'h').I have no children and in my family nobody was named after a parent/relative. Actually we don't use MNs so maybe our names would be different. My name is Rossana and one of my great-grandmother was named Rosa. In my case the names are not related but I love Rosa as given name (rose in Italian). My doubt is exactly if I can or can't use Rosa for a daughter as my own name is Rossana.I'm afraid that people would think that they are matched. I hate this idea as I'm not selfish and I'd just love honouring my ancestor. But Rossana and Rosa seem too similar, unfortunately.

Both those names are very basic but pretty. I wont name my kids after living relatives, for personal reasons. So I probably wont be using either my name or my husbands either. My husbands name is Sasha and I love the name Alexandra. I'd consider using that.

My middle names are my mom's name and my great grandmother's name. So, I would consider using either of my middle names. I probably won't only because if I use my mom's name, I have to use my SO's mom's name, and I don't really want to do that. I also probably won't use that particular great grandma's name because there are plenty of other family members who have never been honoured or just plenty of other names I like more. I have considered using a variation like Irina or Irena. I sometimes toyed with using Samuel as a boy's middle name, but I think it's a smidge too religious for me.

My grandmother gave her mn to my mother as her one and only name.
My paternal grandmother's mn was Anne, which is where mine comes from.
I gave my daughter my mother's name (and therefore also my grandmother's) as her fn, and she also has Anne as her second mn.

I think the BAs are cute. One of my friends who had a baby a couple years ago used her own MN as the baby's MN. It was Taleah.I wouldn't give a kid my FN or MN, because...I guess I'm possessive of my name: it's *mine*, not theirs...but something more subtle would be okay...*Me, my mom, and at least 2 generations of moms beyond her all (seemingly unintentionally) have an "or" sound in our 1st names. I could easily continue that pattern.
*My MN is an honoring name (used 3 times in the last 4 generations, including me) and ends with *el. I tend to like names that have an el in them.
*My sister and I both have V names, and I like a lot of feminine V names and a few masculine ones.
*I'd consider using a date/time/season related name (examples: Loveday, Epiphany, June, Meridian, Horatio), which I think I'm predisposed to like because my MN is one.Something like Horatio Velimir would check all those boxes. Probably a bunch of other things would, too. I don't know if I'd use them, ultimately (I tend to be a spur of the moment namer, based on gut feeling), but it'd be an interesting way to narrow down a list.
