Love Annabelle, but prefer the Annabel spelling. It feels a little less "frilly" to me. If I used a nickname I'd probably just use Anna.

I think Annabelle, this spelling, is perhaps the biggest "princess" name out there. Even more than Isabelle - historically a name for princesses and queens. It's too too green, too prissy.

Annabel doesn't conjure nearly the same image, despite sounding exactly the same. That -belle ending goes a long way toward making Anna entirely too cutesy. Also, curiously enough, Annabelle does impart the image of fair hair (I've known two blond Annabelles and one redhead, that I can recall), whereas Annabel feels brunette (I actually have never met anyone with this spelling).

Annabel will likely get her name misspelled as Annabelle a lot, since the latter is the more common spelling in most countries where the name is found.

Can't say I'm fond of the Anabelle spelling, unfortunately - the single-N with the -elle ending looks way off.

I far prefer Annabel. It retains the etymology and doesn't look over-ornate. Anabel, or Anabelle, wouldn't happen where I live because there is no Spanish influence on our naming customs. If there were, I'd probably be OK with Anabel, but right now it looks like someone's enjoyment of being anal-retentive.

I would use Annie or Belle as a nickname. As for a middle name, I would go with something like:

Yes, I very much prefer Annabel. Annabel is charming and natural, I think of beautiful landscapes, the sea, clean sheets, white candles. Annabelle is sugary and over the top, I think of a pig in a tutu and pink cupcakes with sprinkles. Too much. Also the creepy doll is named Annabelle.

Anabelle just looks misspelled to me. Ana is used in cultures where double consonants are not used so it makes no sense with the belle-part. The Spanish form would be Anabel. I personally dislike all forms that use only one N. If I had to choose between Annabelle and Anabelle I'd pick Annabelle.

Not sure about middle names. None of my favorites go with it. Annabel Catherine sounds nice though. Lots of my favorites include the letter L or even the EL combination so they are too much.

Out of your nicknames: Annie or Belle. It doesn't make sense to me to use Ana, Ann, Anna or Anne as nicknames as they are full names and you might as well just put them on the birth certificate. Bella doesn't make much sense, it would work better for Annabella.

I'd be tempted to pronounce Anabelle like AH-na, so I prefer the other spellings and slightly prefer Annabel of those because it seems more streamlined.
