[Opinions] Winry
What do you think of Winry? Do you think it works as a nickname for Winifred? What are some names with a similar feel?

Isn’t it the name of a character from that one anime?I’m neutral to it, but it definitely could work as short for Winifred.

Winry is a character in Fullmetal Alchemist. When I was looking up to see if it had a precedence of use outside the show, it was listed as a potential nickname of Winifred, so I was curious to see if it would work in other people’s opinions.

It just reminds me of the anime Fullmetal Alchemist (I haven’t seen it myself, but I have friends who are into it and I’m familiar with the basics). I would assume a young Winry had parents who were fans of the show, regardless of whether it were a nickname or a full name.

I love Winry! But think it's best as a stand-alone. It's got a fae-like feeling to it.

I can see what you mean by fae like. It reminds me of Eilonwy a little, but I prefer the sound of Winry.

Looks and sounds like a sloppy pronunciation of Wintery. Names with a similar feel could be Springy, Summery and, I suppose, Autumnal.

Mehhh....Just Winnifred is so much better! Nicknames Winnie, Winny, Freddie, Freddi, Fred, Win

It looks like it's missing a letter or two, at first glance. Not really seeing it as a nickname for Winifred. But then I'm not big on nicknames anyway, generally speaking.
