No, please no. Alaina is a completely different name to me (feminine form of Alain) and it looks trendy. Elaina looks like a variant of Elaine. And Alayna is trendy.

I think it's very pretty. It wouldn't occur to me to want to spell it any other way, though I do think Alaina and Alayna are attractive spellings.

I'd use Helen, Eleanor or Elinor. It wouldn't be Elena then, of course, but that's just fine by me! I have no context for Hispanic names, and no reason to use one.
