Melusine sounds like some sketchy "nutritional supplement" you might order online that's supposed to regulate blood sugar or save your eyesight or sharpen your memory. It's probably just sugar water with a little food coloring and fragrance, and probably someone like Alicia Silverstone endorses it over Twitter.

It’s such a limpidly gorgeous name.

I adore it, I have childhood associations with it that I cannot really explain. I saw it somewhere and it just sunk into my consciousness.

I think Melusine's parents would be educated and weird, and possibly rich? Like old-school academics who come from old money rich. Like they don't need to worry about their kid getting along in the world with a strange name.
