Help[Opinions] Ciara
So, the name Ciara means “dark haired” and has Irish origins. I have a few questions (optional ofc):
1. Do you prefer it pronounced KEE-ARE-UH, KEER-AH, or SEE-AIR-UH/SEE-ARE-UH?
2. What would you rate it, and your overall opinion.
Imo, this is my middle name and I love it. I prefer it pronounced SEE-AIR-UH, but both pronounciations are perfectly fine. I probably wouldn’t use this name because when I was looking at the opinions and people who bear this name were complaining about how people mispronounce it and how it should be pronounced, I wouldn’t use it, but I associate this name with the singer and a perfume, so that’s okay. 10/10 personally.

It's definitely pretty. But I never know how I am meant to pronounce it. So I usually wait for a clue from the person with the name before just taking a stab at it. It might be best as a middle name for that reason.

I don't like it for that very reason: because it is so hard to know how it's pronounced. I know that the Irish pronunciation is Kira, but in English it's not obvious. I suspect if you went to Ireland and told them Ciara was pronounced Sierra, they'd smile politely and then talk to each other about the silly ideas Americans have about all things Irish.
I like both Kira and Sierra, and if I wanted either sound I'd just spell them like that.

2. 5/10. It's not my style, it looks weak to me, somehow. I prefer it spelt Keira, it helps avoid confusion.

I only like it pronounced see-AH-rah; with this pronunciation I give it 7.5/10. The KEER-ah pronunciation hurts my ears- 1/10. I find see-AH-rah pretty, feminine and underused enough to be interesting. However, with the different pronunciations, I only think of it as a midddle name.

Every source I check Ciara seems to have some different meaning. One says it means “dark haired” another said it means “little dark one”, others say it means “dark”, and another one says it means “black haired one”. So I don’t even know what it means at this point.

Trust the BTN sources. Other websites play up plain meanings to make names seem fancier.
