[Opinions] Goose
Since Pigeon went over so well (/s)...thoughts on Goose? Is it workable (as a nickname) for either gender? As a family-only nickname for a baby, at what age (if any) do you think its use would become unsustainable?

Geese are evil! Family-only nicknames can last any length of time and be any degree of silliness imo.

I can't imagine why anyone would think Goose is flattering, after all it does mean "silly person" or grabbing someone by the butt.My stepfather once knew somebody who was nn Goose (real name was Stanley, I think) It was actually Long-legged Goose, because he was nearly seven foot tall.

Goose is possibly even worse than Pigeon. Geese are food, and have the reputation of being stupid and noisy. People have sometimes family nicknames for strange reasons, but I would be weirded out if I heard someone refer to their baby as “goose.”

I knew a Gustav whose nn sounded exactly like Goose: he was a remarkably intelligent person, which blew the stereotype right out of the water. In my experience, the child-owner of a nn tends to decide when that nn is inappropriate.

I call my chihuahua Goose. It kind of rhymes with her name (Lucy) and she’s silly so it’s fitting. It would be weird for a human of any age, even for a nickname.

It's definitely better than the unholy Pigeon. It works as a fam nn. Maybe till. ...15? Whenever the kid starts blabbing, "I hate it when you call me that Momma!"

This was a nickname on some 80's movie, right? The one with the beach volleyball and the jet planes? I think because of that association, it has some prospects. Someone who is really into 80s trivia and planes and aviator jackets would enjoy it. I could see it more on a boy than a girl, for those macho-movie reasons. I think it could be useable as a nickname until....puberty, maybe? And then its use fading over time as the kid got older. Although it also has a frat boy nickname vibe to it too.... hmm.
