I love this name, but I was wondering what other people thought of it. Is it too simple? Is it used too much? what do you think? Are there any good NN's?
I love the combo of Maria Jennifer (two of my favourite names) and I might even use that combo, if I should ever have a baby.

Maria is the second most used feminine name in the world. It is very popular but international and used throughout the centuries, so won't become dated or associated with one time period.
Jennifer is a lovely surprise in the middle.
I also really like the option of MJ as a nickname if that would suit her personality.
I live in the UK where nicknames ending with "z" are common (Caroline becomes Caz, Jeremy becomes Jez) and I have met a Maria who goes by Maz.

I didn't know that nicknames ending in z were a thing in the UK. That's interesting.

Maria is a favorite of mine. My husband really can't stand it so it was never on a list for our own daughter. It's a beautiful name, works in lots of different languages and cultures, and you can picture it on anyone from newborn to over a hundred.
I happen to like that there aren't really any obvious nns, though I guess you could use Mia or Ria or Mar if you really wanted to.

Maria is way overused in my experience, across generations. Everyone knows more than one Maria. Even though, on its face, I can see the appeal of the name and find it pretty, for me it's just tired at this point.
Jennifer is another name I think of in this way. It is a pretty name, but holy crap it seems like every other parent of a daughter in the 70s and 80s thought it was perfect! (Also common in the 90s.) I'm trying to think of whether I know more Marias or Jennifers and it's actually a close call. So... I have basically no doubt that there are a lot of real-life women named Maria Jennifer - and this is the kind of thing that can cause problems, especially if the surname is common, as well.

I'm a Maria, and I enjoy my name's simplicity and how it works across the globe. I do wish I wasn't always one of several Maria's in a given group, but it's a classic which will never be dated. Maria, like most other names, has lots of nicknames in Polish, the most common one probably being Marysia.

I find Maria very boring, and see it almost as a wasted opportunity. It's so dull that I don't even think about nicknames, but let me take a look:
Mariska is cute, Mariëtte is fun, Mariazinha is interesting, Miep makes me smile, Mimi is friendly.... I guess there's plenty of options there, which is nice.
Maria Jennifer doesn't work for me at all, the names are too discordant. Mary Jennifer would be cute, or Maria Guinevere (that combo actually gives Maria some life! I really like that).

It's common on older generations but I've only known one little girl named Maria years ago (she was about 2 at the time and would be maybe 9 now). It was refreshing to hear Maria on a little girl and it really suited her. Plus, Maria is a pretty name =)

I think Maria is very pretty. I've actually only known one Maria who went by Maria. She had to put up with us singing the first line of the song from West Side Story at her a lot, but she was a really cheerful person and didn't seem to mind.
