[Opinions] Sarah
Hello, I'm Sarah. So, growing up I've always kind-of hated my name. I guess it was too common for me and a little boring. I thought about changing my name several times, but now that I'm an adult I sorta like it. What are your thoughts? Do you think it's good, bad, or just meh. I'd love to know. Also I just made this account and have no idea how this site works but it seems nice!

I think since your name is so extremely common, although it is very pretty its beauty might gets diluted because of how common it is. Sarah might have felt a little plain to you when you were younger based on how many people had it. I don't think I want to tell you whether or not you should change your name, because obviously that's a decision for you to decide. However, if you do decide to change it, I have some suggestions. You could change the spelling, like Sara without the "h" or "Sera," or also change it to a name either with "Sarah" in it like "Sarina," or something just similar in general to those sorts of names. Another thing you might want to consider is derivatives. "Sally" is very similar to "Sarah" in terms of feeling very common, but more unique derivatives like "Sadie" that aren't used very often might be nice to think about as well. (I have more than one nice friend named Sadie and I think it might be showing.) Sorry if this was not well-written or too long, I am new here as well and am not used to posting things/advice in discussions. I was drawn here because my name is an extremely rare form of Sarah and I was interested to see what people might have to say on the name. Good luck, Sarah!

I think it’s beautiful but overused. As someone who also has an overused name, I wouldn’t change it.

I prefer Sara, but Sarah honestly isn’t bad. In my honest opinion it’s pretty overused but not bad or anything.

I like it! I can see why it would be annoying to be named Sarah since it's so common but I think it's still nice. A lot of popular names can start to sound a little bitchy (if that's the right word-- like Brittany/Britney, Jennifer, etc.) but I think Sarah still sounds friendly and pretty. If my name was Sarah and I wanted to change it but also kind of liked it, I might go for a longer name with Sara in it (like Sarabeth or Saralee).

Hi, welcome! My roommate's name is Sarah, too, and I also have a cousin and a couple other friends named Sarah!I like it, but I prefer the Sara spelling. No H, bc H's are EUGH! (I'm not dragging you - it's a Jimmy Fallon reference)

Hi Sarah =)I love your name! It was my absolute favourite girls' name for years when I was growing up. I still love it and often use it as a middle name when I'm mucking around with name combinations. I think it's elegant and beautiful!

Welcome! Funny I find a message about the name Sarah because I've been thinking about it a lot recently. I have never really loved the name Sarah, until I met my mother-in-law who was, you guessed it, also named Sarah. She's a really sweet woman, so the name kind of grew on me and now I think it's lovely! I'm expecting, and I recently found out I'm having a my very first daughter (out of 3 sons), and for the absolute longest time my husband has been begging me to name her Sarah in honor of her, and I just might. As for the name, I think it ages like fine wine. I don't think you should change it. It's sweet and, although overused, it's a classic.

My mother was also under pressure to name me after her mother-in-law, Sarah Anne. Unlike you, she didn't much like her MIL, who had been dead for some years - since before they got married, I think. My mother said that Sarah Anne had ignored her doctor's advice, did what she wanted (she was diabetic) and died prematurely. So she managed not to honour this lady, but I got Anne as my mn which I'm very happy about. I don't enjoy Sarah much, but that might be because of what I know about that long-ago grandmother. When I was old enough to think that way, I thought that my parents could have named me Sally instead of Sarah; I would have liked it, and it would have been close enough to Sarah for my Dad and far enough away from it for my mother. But they didn't think of it.ETA: If I had been Sarah Anne, my initials would have been SAD; same as my gran's, but marrying a D-surnamed man was her choice!

Heyy, welcome, I'm kinda new here too :)
I think that Sarah is an okay name, I don't know any Sarah/Sara but I don't really hate or love this name. It's short and flows with several middle names.

Welcome!Unfortunately, Sarah is one of my least favorite names. It's been so diluted by overuse that now it only registers as a pair of sounds for me.

Hi, welcome!I must confess I’ve always found the name Sarah a bit boring, but I think Sarah’s strength, and reason for its popularity, is that it’s multilingual. I also never met a Sarah / Sara who wasn’t a really nice person.~ Bella
