It's awful, but Waverly is catching on for some reason.
I don't think of a person at all. It just sounds more like a thing or brand than a person.
Wavy and Wave are odd nicknames. Waverly should be the name of a curling iron or product along those lines. Also I think of "Wizards of Waverly Place".
I think it's one of those names trendy yuppies would use. Just like Bodhi (ugh) or Harper (before it became mainstream).
