I like it actually. I'd do something short and stark... Mellifera Nyx or Knox? Doesn't go exactly the way I'd want it to, but the sound is definitely on the right track for me.

It could 100% be a human name since Mel is already a very common name base! I would say Mellifera Sora or Mellifera Elise.
Some potential nicknames that aren't Mel could be: Life (like leaf), Lily, Fera, Mifi, Ellie, Lifa

It honestly doesn't work for me. It looks and sounds like what it is: a scientific term. And it makes me feel positively positive about Melissa, which is a first!
