I rather enjoy it; wouldn't use it because I think it's language-specific, but I like to see it in use.
That said, I taught a girl once whose name was Leizel. So I pronounced it LIETs'l and she 'corrected' me: it was LEEz'l. Luckily for her, the kids could choose to study French, German or Latin for the first two years at high school and she had picked French!

well and pronunciation is individual specific too, I live in the US and once knew a girl named Aisling and she pronounced it Ayz-ling as opposed to the Irish ash-lynn. A couple people tried to tell her that she was pronouncing her name wrong but imo when it is your name you can pronounce it however you want. Especially in the US where it isn't very common regardless
