[Opinions] Reginald
What are your thoughts on Reginald? I don't particularly like it, since it evokes the image of an English general who always smells like nicotine, but I'm very slowly warming to Reggie. This was promoted by a dream about a woman who was wondering whether or not she ought to tell her fiancé Reggie that she had cheated on him, but I actually got quite curious about what your thoughts are.masculine list: https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/191050/124079

I quite like it, but then, I am kinda really into the whole "English general who smells like nicotine" thing. I love the "ald" part, that's so rich. I like a lot of names with that element. Reggie is also quite fun, it has such a juicy rapscallion vibe.

I love Reginald! It's lovably stuffy.

I like Reggie, but would also hesitate using Reginald. Just a thought...if you like Reggie, but don't care much for Reginald, maybe you can still use the nickname if you use Reginald in the middle.Growing up there was a show called Rocket Power with a female character named Reggie, which was short for Regina, so I like Reggie on a girl as well - a bit more interesting than Gina.

Reggie is trendy in the UK but it’s usually just Reggie nowadays, although Reginald is charting too. I’ve also heard Rex as an alternative nn for Reginald.

I was just thinking about Reggie the other day. I call my dog Moose and I was thinking about Moose in Archie comics, how he dated the glamorous Midge, and how Midge was always being courted by Reggie. And I started wandering around thinking about how there should be more guys named Reggie. And then I started thinking about the only Reggie I know, a really dignified and personable fine craftsman about a generation and a half older than me. And then I started thinking about how he moved away. Deep thoughts.Hmm...maybe my thoughts got beamed to you about Midge and Moose.Uhh. I suppose I'm pro-Reggie, which makes me pro-Reginald. What else could it be short for? Reynaldo?Reginald Gareth
Reginald Timaeus
Reginald Edwin
Reginald Horace
Reginald Bartholomew...no
Reginald Cicero
Reginald Frederick very royal
Reginald Xerxes
Reginald Darius
Reginald Leocadian

Yes, Reginald has a very commanding presence. I think it is a strong, handsome name. Reggie is more down-to-earth and a great nickname (it was one of the reasons why I started liking Reginald). It's on my list for a boy, totally usable.

I agree that Reginald is almost comically "British stiff upper lip/some buttoned-up hapless friend of Bertie Wooster."
But Reggie is a very friendly nn. Very much a Black name now, and an athlete's name as well, what with Reggie Jackson, Reggie White, Reggie Bush etc.

Don't like it at all

It's ok. I love the smell of nicotine :). I kinda picture a nice old guy, maybe a college professor, who smokes a pipe and has bags under his eyes.

Oh, Reginald definitely sounds like he smokes a pipe.
