I used to love it as a unique name until I found out that one of my coworkers had a daughter by that name. It’s still okay.

Beautiful in a mournful way, it has a similar vibe to Ophelia.

This is a name in my family tree so I have a soft spot for it, but it is a very cold, aloof sort of name. The idea of a "Liv" or "Vinnie" being a Lavinia is appealing though.

It's an old fashioned gem. I like it.

Lavinia is a wonderful Southern Gothic name. It also gives me Edgar Allan Poe vibes (Gothic, but not Southern). Vin / Vinny are good sporty nicknames if Lavinia is too fancy for everyday use.

Lavinia is one of my favorites, it's been a long time resident of my short list for many years now. At first I had it cupped with Allison for a long time because of one of my best friends but we've grown less close the last few years so I'm a bit off it now. In the present I have it with Juliet and I think Lavinia Juliet is one of the most fanciful names one could conjure with a 2 name set. I've also toyed with Lavinia Rose, Lavinia Primrose, Lavinia Isabelle, Lavinia Marigold, Lavinia Joy, Lavinia Charlotte and similar b4. Another good pro to Lavinia is there are several NN possibilities for it: for instance Vinnie is the retro go-to but there is also Nia, Lav, Linny, Vivi, Vina, and my personal favorite and one I would use, Liv/Livy though ik there are more as well I hadn't listed.*also side note Lavinia Rose is legitimately a type of rose
