[Surname] Barrow
Where does my surname Barrow originate from? It's pronounced "Bear-row". Lol, My first name William with my nickname Will sometimes helps people pronounce my last name correctly. Also, yes, I work with Wheel Barrows in case you're wondering.
From what I know, I have English, Scottish, Jewish, and Swedish ancestry. This is only on my dad's side. I won't discuss my mom's ancestry for security reasons. I heard the it originates from the word Burrow, but I'm not sure. Could you also tell me how old the last name is?
Thank you!

Barrow is either from Old English bearwe 'dweller by the grove' or beorg 'dweller by the hill'.
All the known localities from which the name may be derived refer to different declensions of Bearwe "orchard. grove"
Thanks!
