[Opinions] from the obituary ...
A woman named Lit'tle Eva Lastname. Yes, that is the correct spelling of her first name; I know someone who knew her and it's pronounced La-TELL rather than little. For anybody who doesn't know, Little Eva was a popular singer in the sixties, famous for her version of "The Locomotion."
it's also a character in Uncle Tom's Cabin, a saintly little white girl named Evangeline St. Claire who of course dies tragically. Little Eva has become a not very flattering term for what we might call something like a Mary Sue.Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, when you criticize him, you're a mile away and you have his shoes!

Interesting that it's Lit'tle and not Lil'. Lil' Eva would actually be kind of pretty, from a phonetic standpoint. La-TELL is sorta fun, but Lit'tle looks pretty mangled.

~Everybody's doin' a brand new dance naah~I wonder if she didn't like the name Little so she changed the pronunciation. Like someone I know who didn't like being named Penelope or the nickname Penny so she changed it to Penee like Renee.

Grand Funk Railroad's version was so much better.

Hi RoxStar !!!That spelling of 'little' is very strange.I read that book and I like the name Evangeline because of that character. I like the full name, I dislike Eva because at this point it is not related in my opinion.I didn't know that Little Eva is synonym of Mary Sue ... Thanks, I learned something new!

it's not quite a Mary Sue ...But kind of a mixture of Mary Sue and White Savior.
