[Opinions] Ourania & Urania
What do you think of Ourania and Urania?
And, how would you pronounce both of them?

I say Oo-RAY-nee-uh, and You-RAY-nee-uh. I was very into the Muses at one point, and Urania was one of my favourites. I enjoy the meaning, and myth connection. I definitely prefer the sound of Urania, it flows more naturally when I say it. I did worry about people immediately thinking 'uranus har har', or that it sounds medical.

They both rather remind me of urine, I'm afraid. I'd pronounce them both as you-RAY-nee-ə.

Ourania is certainly interesting (I pronounce it oo-RAHN-ee-uh / oo-RAHN-yah). It's a bit much as a personal name, but nice to see in print.I don't like Urania at all, though (yur-AY-nee-uh). It's visually similar to Uranus (elementary school jokes galore), and makes me think of both uranium and urine when I say it.

It's one of my guilty pleasures. I like the pronunciation oo-RANI-uh, and using the spelling Ourania makes it more likely that it would be pronounced that way, but I like the look of Urania a bit more. Rani would be a cute nickname.

Honestly? It reminds me of "urinary" and "urology", sorry. Ourania - "ou" like "oo" in cook, oo-RAH-nee-ah,
and Urania - "u" like "you", you-RAH-nee-ah.

Ourania I would say like "our-ay-nee-ah", with the "Our" sounding like the english word "our" or "hour".Urania I would say "yer-ay-nee-ah"I kinda like Urania better? It's more in-your-face weird, like almost rebellious about it. Ourania looks like it's trying to be classy, and I respect that, but Urania just grabs me, it's a got a sort of electric-seafoam aura, very jazzy.

Hi !!!.I would pronounce Ourania oh-oo-RAH-nya and Urania oo-RAH-nya.I prefer Urania because it is more immediate. Then the 'ou' part reminds me of the French pronounciation that is like 'oo' too. So..why the name would be more complex if the pronounciation is the same?Obviously if I were Greek I would choose Ourania but in my opinion worldwide Urania works better.Urania is airy, sophisticated and aristocratic. In Italy this name is used but it's rare. I like it though.
