[Opinions] Re: Hera
Trying to get back at Zeus via his mistresses was certainly the wrong move especially since Hera didn't seem to differentiate between mistresses and victims. Often times, the things that Zeus did to hide his infidelities were just as bad as anything that Hera would have done to them. He seemed to have a fetish for turning people into animals or turning himself into one. The time when Hera, Poseidon, and Hades captured Zeus and wouldn't let him go until he swore to be a better ruler seems to have one been one of the few times that they really managed to flip the tables. Although Zeus was apparently much stronger than his siblings, Zeus did not seem able to undo what Hera had done. Hera's curses seemed to stick.

Is that different from when Hera, Poseidon, and Athena supposedly tried depose him, but Thetis ruined the plan? I thought they gave up after that.

I think that was a different incident. Zeus's siblings (Hera, Poseidon, Hades, and maybe Demeter) trapped Zeus on one occasion and let him out when he promised to be a better leader. Zeus was made king of the gods partially with the understanding that he would be better than Cronus. It has been a while since I read the myth, but I believe that Hephaestus made a net with which to trap Zeus. They let him go once he swore not to abuse his power as much.
