[Opinions] Rhodora
I first encountered this name in the movie Velvet Buzzsaw, in which Rene Russo plays a morally compromised rocker-turned-art dealer named Rhodora Haze. I only learned yesterday that rhodora is the name of a flower (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhododendron_canadense), so now the name feels more substantial to me, and I think I love it! What do you think?As always, combos:Rhodora Albertine

Probably much better than I do!Ralph Waldo EmersonThe RhodoraOn being asked, whence is the flower.In May, when sea-winds pierced our solitudes,
I found the fresh Rhodora in the woods,
Spreading its leafless blooms in a damp nook,
To please the desert and the sluggish brook.
The purple petals fallen in the pool
Made the black water with their beauty gay;
Here might the red-bird come his plumes to cool,
And court the flower that cheapens his array.
Rhodora! if the sages ask thee why
This charm is wasted on the earth and sky,
Tell them, dear, that, if eyes were made for seeing,
Then beauty is its own excuse for Being;
Why thou wert there, O rival of the rose!
I never thought to ask; I never knew;
But in my simple ignorance suppose
The self-same power that brought me there, brought you.

idk, it seems too elaborate and forced, I prefer Rhoda, Rhodanthe or even Rhodaline

I love Rhoda and Rhodanthe! Rhodaline sounds way more forced to me than Rhodora, though.

Oh I like it. With the chunky accessible names - Rhodora Sibyl, Rhodora Even, Rhodora Xanthe, Rhodora Xenia.Gosh maybe that's what Aunt Rhody's full name was!!!

Now is it Ro-DORE-a/ro-Dora or roh-der-uh? Either way, I dig it.

Rhodora is a name I submitted that's pretty common in the Philippines. I like it very much. Idk what it could mean but it coming from a flower is likely in my opinion. Rhodora Fe

Rhodora Jhoanna

It’s from a poem by Ralph Waldo Emerson titled “Rhodora”.
My mother went to school after WW2 and American Literature was part of their curriculum. I believe they were made to memorize the poem because even my former teachers and principals would recite a line for me.

I'm assuming the "rhod" comes from the Greek for "rose" (like Rhoda).

It’s not bad, but I think I prefer either Rhea, or literally any other -dora ending name like Theodora, Menodora, or Isadora.

Oh I love a good -dora name, and this is no exception! Rhodora does sound a bit like a giant creature that Godzilla might face off against, but that just makes it more interesting for me. Rhodora Lucy is punchy and bright, I really like that one. Rhodora Nimue is unexpected and charming!I also like the idea of Rhodora June, that combo brings out the Rhonda-meets-Dora potential the name also has for me.
