[Opinions] Feyre, Feyra, Fayra
A book has been recommended to me (A Court of Thorns and Roses) and they main character is named Feyre.I honestly had no idea how to pronounce it and thought it would be pronounced FAIR or like Fairy. But apparently it's FAY-ra. Which, I must admit, is quite pretty. I always liked Fay and Feyre seems more name-y in sound. But the pronunciation would be an issue so I guess Feyra or Fayra work better. What do you think of the name? Do you prefer just Fay?How would you spell it? Feyre, Feyra, Fayra?By the way, if you have read it, would you recommend the book as well? I'll be placing an order in a few days, just wondering if I should add it.Please rate my list: https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/6232

I guessed that Feyre would sound like Fire! I find Fay risky as a fn but fine as a mn, and I don't think it needs an extra syllable.

Yeah, that is a good guess as well! I was biased because I knew the book had something to do with fairies so I was inclined to pronounce it like "fair" or "fairy". Why do you find it risky? Just wondering because I like Fay.

Just because someone named Feyre would have to deal with people's wrong guesses all her life. It's a pronunciation issue.

I think it's okay. It feels a bit medieval and fantasy-like to me. I would spell it as Fayra.

Hi Perrine!!!I personally would use Fay or directly Fairy, why not?I prefer the word itself than strange variants like Fayra, Feyre or something else.If you want to name someone "fairy" it is quite silly using a "mask" instead of the name that you actually like. That's my opinion.

Thank you Felie :)I like Fay but I actually don't like Fairy as a name (it is just too sweetly and whimsical for me). I just thought that Feyre might be pronounced "fairy" at first because I wasn't sure but I started to like it when I knew that was not the case and that it is fay-ra :)

I don't really like it, maybe fayra. I prefer Phaedra or Freya.

I would go with Fayra as it is less likely to look like a misspelled version of Freya.
My favourite version though is the original Feyre.
