[Opinions] Evangeline?

Nice!

Very pretty. A bit religious for my personal use, but it’s nice.
This name has been my favorite name since I was 12 years old for a reason: I have a lot of health issues and so it's highly possible that I won't be able to have children when I get to that point in my life where I'm ready. I've known about these issues since I was 8, and that same year a doctor callously told me "you know you'll most likely never be able to have your own kids right?" As a tween I picked Evangeline for a future daughter because it means "good news" and being able to have her would be the best news I ever got. It's a name that symbolizes hope and perseverance to me and even if I adopted a female newborn she will still be named this regardless. This is the best name in my opinion though I am entirely biased. I too want to call her "Eva" for short since it means "life" and implies a thriving spirit & body. On a less sentimental note I also think it's just very beautiful, dignified and filled with possibilities. It makes me so happy you met a little girl with this name that even had the same NN I want to use :)

Aw, that’s a really sweet sentiment. That doctor is kind of an ass though...
Thank you for sharing what the name Evangeline means to you. I really enjoyed reading your response. It was touching.
On a side note, that doctor was an insensitive wart. There are a lot better ways to discuss and phrase potential fertility issues that are both realistic and compassionate.

Not to mention I was 8 so such talked should have been skipped altogether for at Least a few years but I digress XD
But thank you for your kind response! :)

Honestly, I think evangelical, which for me is not a great association. Other than that, Evangeline is beautiful. As someone else said, reminds me of the Longfellow poem Evangeline. My ancestors were attached to a former plantation in southeast Louisiana where the Evangeline tree, a great oak, is said to be located. Even so, not a name I would personally use. Eve and Eva are great nicknames!

Evangeline is pretty. I like the nicknames Eve, Eva and Lina. The meaning "good news" is nice; it sounds like the parents were thrilled when they heard they were having her. Longfellow's poem by the same name is a pleasant association since it makes me think of ancient forests and legends.
The only drawback is that -line could be pronounced -leen or -ˈlīn.

I like it quite a bit. It has slipped a couple of notches for me in recent years, but I do like it. The last syllable can be pronounced about three different ways. So that could possibly be problematic.
