[Opinions] Which celebrity baby names bore you the most (more)?
I was just browsing through a celebrity baby name list on nameberry and noticed that they are all copying from each other. The names are so boring! Not really among the general population but among them. They also very obviously copy from each other all of the time which is kind of lame. I mean when you name your kid Olivia or Nora and there are lots of others that is different because they are classics but with these names that are just common among celebs it just seems so obviously inspired by someone else and uncreative and bland. Alicia Silverstone had a Bear a decade or so ago so we all know where it came from and now every other celebrity has a Bear *yawn*. I actually don't mind Bear, but it is so bland now. When I saw a Christopher Alexander on the list it felt refreshing and that is saying a lot because it is actually quite the boring 90s name. These are the names I found many many times. Which ones do you like? Which ones do you dislike? Which ones bore you when you see them in celebrity birth announcements?Bear (also on a few girls)
Bowie (yes, his music was great but he was a bit of a creep as a person as in having sex with underaged girls, so NO)
Blue
Winter*
Ever*
Sonny
Honey*
Hendrix
Honor
Buddy (Buddy Dessert was the worst combo)
James (ALL of the time as a middle name or first name for girls, sometimes Jaymes)
Sunny
Wilder, Wilda and Wild
Apollo*
Saint
Atlas*
Pearl
Rio
Bodhi
Birdie
Shiloh
River*
Pepper
Monroe
Rebel
Dove
Lennon
Phineas
Boand Ray, Rae, Rey as a middle name. Oddly enough also lots of Jane, Jean, Joan, June, Jo middle names even though they feel a bit tired. Rose and Grace as well but pretty much no Marie anymore. The more classic ones that were very popular:Philip (I think this is because Prince Philip died because these were born in 2021 and with this it is not so obvious because it is a classic, just adding it for completeness)
Josephine
Willa
EloiseStarting to see Lark, Larkin more too.I marked the ones I like with a *.Do you have any others to add?I have nothing against these names I am just kind of wondering how, after Cher named her son Elijah Blue in the 70s, anyone could still think that Blue is a cool, interesting new name when it has been overused so much by other celebs.Don't take this too seriously, I was just kind of annoyed by reading the same names over and over on the list ;)Please rate my list: https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/6232

I'm tired of Charlie, Rae, Ella, Olivia, Grace, Rose, and all of the common names, idk they use the same combos with all of them. Sloane is less boring, but just sounds like alone. Reign and King, too. And obviously Saint, I guess maybe if they went with St. Vincent or St. John, that would be cool, but Saint as a name is too much for me. Also Storm and Stormi, doesn't sound nice at all. Kingston, just not my smile. And any ayden name tbh, besides Aidan or Aiden.

an acquaintance of mine recently named her baby Nora after a celebrity baby though I can't remember which one. I'm not head over heels for it like some people these days but it's fine. I don't like Larkin but Lark is kind of nice. When I watched Once Upon a Mattress as a kid I remember wishing the character Lady Larkin had been Lady Lark instead. I dislike Saint it feels like a burden to place that kind of expectation on a person. Even if you aren't Catholic would you really want your kid to have that association? Winter is interesting and it's definitely more fresh than Summer and Autumn and idk if I'm ready for Spring *no pun intended* I share your feelings on Bowie and felt the same when I met a child with it a few months ago. I like River on a boy. Apollo is one of my favorites. I tend to favor unusual/classical A names for boys. I kind of like Bodhi theoretical in the middle name spot but not for the first.

YES I 100% AGREEI've been noticing this and youre so right they all try so hard to be cool but then all end up with the same 10 boring names.Bear, Shiloh, Bodhi, Hendrix, Blue & Bowie annoy me the most. Theyre all so uncreative.I actually like: Willa, Eloise & River.Surely they don't actually love these names the most out of all the names in the world, like surely you'd pick the name you like most not the name thats trendy atm, kinda weird tbh

It is really noticeable! I didn't realize how many repetitions there were until I went through the most recent lists today. It was way more uncreative than regular birth announcements in the newspaper, in terms of diversity in names.I like River too. I am upset the celeb masses got their hold on it.Since Jamie Oliver named his son River Rocket it became so common. And I noticed several celebs using Rocket as well *yawn*Maybe they love it because they heard it and thought "oh sounds nice and is not common" not realizing that lots of celebs had the same idea.

River Rocket doesn't sound like a person's name. It sounds like some pool float.

Bear makes me ill, as does Birdie. God they’re so nauseatingly precious. It’s like celebrities think their kids are so far above the rest of society, they can name them ridiculous things like Bear without fear of repercussions. It annoys me.Ella was the ultimate for a while back about 20 years ago. Every celeb baby was Ella. Harper was the new Ella like 10 years ago. So boring.I like River even though it’s so cliché Hollywood.

I like River too. I have been thinking about Rivers too lately, I think I will open a thread.Birdie is way too cutesy. I don't mind Bear as much but I wouldn't use it and I'd rather see it on a dog.Yes, in the late 90s it was Ella, Isabella, Olivia, Lily (so glad it is out of fashion with celebs now), Jack. I think I read Tallulah a few times as well and Schuyler, Skyler, Skylar.

I don't think Bear has ever been edgy in my lifetime. It's the same age as Fawn and Dawn and Misty in my mind...older than me, like a vintage fringe jacket.I have an uncle called Buddy who's around 80. Sonny seems a similar style, would be in the same group as Junior or Sparky or Tripp. NMS.Lennon reminds me of Lenin, and Monroe just seems ugly.Wilder / Wild is one I can't even take seriously. Ever is okay but trite; Everly is faddish but has more character. I've met someone named Honey, and I actually felt hesitant to say her name because it seemed so over-familiar.I like:Hendrix (I also like Hendrik)
Honor (disliked until I heard it IRL)
Dove (I've met one, parents were religious)
Winter (I have a cousin with this as a MN)
Philip (also have a cousin named this)
Larkin (seems less tired than Lauren or Logan)
Josephine
Eloise
Sunny
PhineasI like Ray, Rae, Rey, Jane, Jean, Joan, June, Jo as MNs. Yeah, they're fillers, but they're nicer as filler, like foliage in a flower arrangement. Rose and Grace make bad filler...or Rose does, and I just dislike the vibe of Grace, partly because it's trendy like Grayson and partly because it sounds insufferable to me.

To me it is younger than Dawn or Misty and goes more into the River, Fox, Wolf category (plenty of Wolfs in the celeb announcements too). But I have a hard time disliking nature names so I still sort of like them even though I am also annoyed by them. There were several Tripps as well.I forgot about all the Grayson, Gray, Grey.I think Gray is the new Blue in the celeb baby world. They could at least be creative and google some colors. There are so many better ones that make good names such as Cyan. I like the color gray but it is so boring as a name already.

I mainly judge them the same way I would for non-celebs - whether I happen to like the names or not.I see what you mean about how they become boring. Trying hard to be spicy - in the exact same way everyone else is doing, so you know they'll approve! So, ta-da, spicy == bland. The celebrity surname ones probably bore me the most. Bowie, Monroe, Lennon, Hendrix and the like.
And the sorta "stupid" or childish ones like Pepper and Sonny and Buddy and Blue and Honey. Or Coco, for godsake. I dislike that style.
I guess Bear is like that too. I'm just more tolerant of Bear because there was a guy called Bear at my high school, and so I have this persistent illusion that it's kinda normal.I dislike Winter and Ever but they just seem like typical hipster names, not especially celebby.I don't mind a lot of them. Honor, Dove, Rebel, Rio, Bodhi, Sunny, they're not faves of mine but I "get" the style of them more. It seems very California-ish. I've met a Rebel (in Texas) and a Bodhi (in California). Long time ago.I'm feeling a little bit creeped out lately by the rise of mythology names like Atlas and Apollo. They're okay, it's just ... weird.I like River.

I like Atlas and Apollo way better than some of the others. But I am really into mythology names. Persephone is a favorite of mine.To me the cutesy nickname names are the worst. Even though Honey is a GP of mine, but I wouldn't use it.I like River too.

Why is the rise of mythology names weird to you?'

I don't know exactly but I guess it's because they are from actual religions? And to us they are just Hollywood superhero-fantasy names, and that's weird. Not weird when I meet a kid, but the trend overall.

I like a lot of the names individually, but the trend also bugs me...I kind of get a sinister goofy vibe from the trend. I feel like they're popular because of Percy Jackson, The Avengers, Superwoman, etc, and it's superficial/off-putting.
