I dislike it, it just doesn't sound nice to me.
I'd go for a long, classic middle name:
Thane Jonathan
Thane Sebastian
Thane Elijah

It reminds me of Tolkien (I think a Took is Thane of The Shire). Stylewise, it strikes me as between Zane and Thatcher, and it seems more like Earl to me than Baron or Duke would; I don't immediately register it as a title.

This makes me think of cowboys. It has a sort of rodeo country-western tone to it. I could see it on a classic Western character easily. It's one syllable, a bit nasal (has a twang), and is vaguely reminiscent of other worlds, giving it a kind of melancholy/wistfulness. I could get into it. It's like an updated Wayne or Dwayne.
Thane Roger
Thane Michael
Thane Waylon
Thane Wyatt
Thane Courtney - is Courtney still used for boys?
Thane Cody
Thane Curtis

Makes me think of Macbeth.
Is it less tacky than Duke or Prince because it's less known? I don't know. The sound is all right, pretty handsome.
Thane Joyce
Thane Gustav ???
Thane Benedict
Thane Martin
Thane Viridian
Thane Richard
Thane Greer
Thane Everard
Thane Lionel
Thane Kingston

I absolutely love Thane, it's been in my top 10 for a while now. I first heard it a few years ago via an actor named Thayne Jasperson. So I didnt have any other ties to it (the title or Macbeth) and just thought it sounded nice.
Just off the top of my head since im no where near a laptop:
Thane Connor
Thane Brennan
Thane August
Thane Arthur
Thane Lewis
Thane Lincoln
Thane Diarmuid
Thane Harper
Thane Ellis
Thane Willoughby
To name a few

Don't really like it.
I knew a Thane once. He was a very serious, rigid guy who wore suits and slicked his hair back every day. Seemed very self-important. Needless to say, I dislike it.
That's kind of funny. The Thane I've met was a farmer who liked partying.
Don't like it at all
I really don't like Thane, how do you feel about Thaddeus?
Hate it
It's just a title to me. Also, it sounds quite strident.
Thane Aurelius, maybe? Thane Issachar? Thane Julius? Thane Herbert? Nothing sounds right.

I think I’ll be as willing to express my hatred toward your pretentious, repulsive names as you are from now on. One-word dismissive labels for your posts only from now on should serve.
Utterly ridonculous behavior on a name opinions board good sir
You are so monotonous. I am pretty sure you perceive your writing style as quirky and clever, but your intent to embitter and corrode the goodwill of those around you is tedious, transparent, and invariable. I’m also pretty sure you are well aware of it. I suggest that you go run back into the cracks, and we’ll see you again soon when the hatred upon which your soul is fueled is adequate enough to call you away from whatever other cockroach activities occupy your time. You can almost set your watch by it. Not that anyone would bother.
Critiquing writing style out of nowhere is really presumptuous, seems about equally as rude as walking up to a not-quite-acquaintance and diabtribing about their speech patterns...would seem especially weird/hypocritical after just criticizing someone else for being blunt and dismissive.
And the reasoning behind the "run back into the cracks" line was indecipherable; I have no idea why that was directed at Pelops.
Anyway, you're Sparrow, right? (if not, sorry for the mistake, but you sound like him). Welcome back to the opinions board, where people criticize *names*.

Yes, it's him, and it's very funny because *he's* the one who goes away from the board and returns at clockworkish intervals, not me... His post is one of the most transparent cases of projection I've ever seen on this board. If he wants to call it a cockroach running to and from the cracks, what does that say about how he views himself and his behavior? Is BTN some kind of little speakeasy he turns to in times of personal frustration when the rest of his life isn't going well? I never would have had a thought like that if he hadn't spewed that weird little diatribe at me, who am just hanging out
I had the same thought
Immediately wondered if Sparrow had returned!

So funny! I literally don’t care what you think. I’m just doing my own thing. But wow you care so much! Bless you.
Dude...are you okay?
If you don't like the people on the forum you're welcome to leave. Keep up that bullying behavior they just might ban you. They are very quick to ban bullies I've seen it several times already since returning to this site 6 months ago.

Just FYI, people who excessively quote a thesaurus to win an argument are seen as obnoxious.
This.
Although I disagree about what Andrew said about Pelops writing style (I always enjoy reading what she has to say), I would rather read excessively quirky writing than essay-like writing wherein every other word was swapped with a synonymous bigger, fancier word to make them seem more intelligent than they are.

This is weird. You asked for opinions and Wordsmith gave hers. Maybe you should only ask for positive opinions going forward if that’s what you’re seeking.
Hey! pretentious names give me life! the more ridiculous and floofy the better XD Lmao!
But I'll also call you out and say that some of your name choices are on the "pretentious" side as well so I wouldn't judge. Wordsmith just said they hate it, it's whatever. That's their opinion. Just shrug it off.

You asked for opinions......I offered an opinion......?
Thane is better than Dane and Shane, at least.

Thane of Glamis and Cawdor
Pretty much every school kid in the UK studies Macbeth, so it's weird.
That aside...
Thane Philip
Thane Maurice
Thane Alexander
Thane Julius
Thane Marcus
Thane Marius
Thane Evander
Thane Laurence
