[Opinions] Hosea
I'm reading about the prophet Hosea and he seems like a fascinating character. What do you think of his name? I say it "ho-ZAY-ah".

There was actually a boy named Hosea in my kindergarten / first grade class. I remember thinking it was a common name because of that until I moved away and never heard of it again. It’s nice, breezy, airy...there’s just something about it that puts it in the meh category for me though.

I know it isn't, but I can't help but read "Horsea"Not sure how to pron the name. Without your input, I'd have defaulted to "hoe-sea"

It reminds me of: Jose, Joshua, Amos; Hosea Williams; dusty pink-red and date palms. I think when I was little, I got it mixed up with Hosanna occasionally. It's slightly interesting to me because of the pink association and the civil rights leader. Mostly I don't really like it, though I could probably warm up to it.

I'm not a fan. It reminds me of the German "Hose" meaning "pants, trousers". It also kind of sounds like someone whose first language isn't Spanish trying to say José.

Hosea is kind of a GP of mine, I love the sound but well, I think the "ho" first syllable might draw teasing from kids. Maybe I'm overthinking it though.

I think Hosea is a gorgeous name, very handsome. Great meaning too. I pronounce it the same way as you.
