[Opinions] Kayleigh
Yeah, I know, so trendy and already sort of dated. But I can't help it. It's a gigantic guilty pleasure of mine and I love it. I love Kay, but wouldn't use it because it is how many people say "okay" so it doesn't really work anymore. I love how Kay and Leigh sound together.I like that Kayleigh is by far the most popular spelling in Europe and here she probably would rarely have to spell it out. I like how it looks complete that way and not cutesy. And how Kayleigh is the anglicization of the dance and how the name was spelled Kayleigh in the song.So what do you think of the name in general?Does the spelling work for you? What are your top 3 spellings? Which one(s) do you hate?If you are in the UK would you be inclined to spell it Kayleigh? How is the name perceived where you live? Just trendy or also tacky or trashy? (just wondering). Please rate my list: https://www.behindthename.com/pnl/6232

I like the sound of it. I just don't like any of the popular spellings - especially not Kayleigh and Kayley. "Kay" feels dated as hell to me, it's like a -leen ending... I prefer C spellings. Maybe they evoke the dance more, and seem less made-up.If the name were novel and refreshing again, and respelling it didn't seem tedious ... I'd spell it Cailie, or Cailee, or even Ceili.
Of the more well-used spellings, I think Kaylee is ehh ok, Caylee is better (except for that news story), Kailey is sort of appealing, Kaylie and Kayli are cute and simple. It'd just be a normal fashionable name here, not tacky/trashy. I've seen one Kayli among my daughter's school peers (born in the 00s). Some people here (a moderately affluent eastside Seattle area) whose houses are better than mine, have daughters with trendy names like Kyah and Estella and Kennedy ... Kayleigh would fit in with them.

I used to like this name. I first heard it on the PBS Kids show Zoom. I don't like it anymore. It's too kreativ.

Pretty abominableI know that's dramatic, but this name hurts. It's visually aggressive yet aurally measly. If I were forced to use the name, I'd probably opt for Kali.

I think this is my favorite spelling but I’m not really the hugest fan of the name. I can tolerate Kaylee and Kayley but anything other than that is a no go for me.

Kayleigh is a GP of mine, for the sound, the Marillion song, and the Firefly character. It's a GP because of the trendiness, and it sounds like it was made up to fit a trend rather than being its own name. I would probably go with the -leigh spelling over the -lee.

I think it's ok, same with the spelling

Well, I don't mind it at all. I'm not usually a fan of leigh endings. If anything, it's way better than the name Kinsleigh or Kinlee. Of the spellings of this name, I like Kayley the best. After Kayley comes Kaylee, and then Kayleigh. If you're look for a "Kay" name, how about Kaya? You can pronounce it "Kye-uh" or "Kay-uh" and I think it's really pretty. Do you like Kaya?

I remember the first Kayleigh I knew was the daughter of my friend's sister who got pregnant at 15. I bet I would have loved it as a teenager, too. But it doesn't age well. Another association is the character (Kaylee) in the tv show Firefly, so it also has a slightly dorky image. And of course, saddest of all, Caylee Anthony, toddler murder victim. If you really, really love it and can't be persuaded, what if you named her something like Katherine Leigh and called her Kayleigh? My top spelling is Kaylee, because it's the simplest. No confusion about how to pronounce it. (It would be Caylee if not for Caylee Anthony, because I like C-names more than K-names.) I don't like the spellings that are unclear, pronunciation-wise, like Kalea (I know one, and she pronounces it like Kaylee).

I wouldn't consider that because I find it complicated and it doesn't make much sense to me because if I wanted Kayleigh I wouldn't be satisfied with Katherine Leigh (which I find boring as a combo).I wouldn't use it (more of a GP) but if I did I would just give her two classic middle names. Kayleigh Alice Annabel or something.I know Kalea as kah-LEH-a.

In the UK it’s a very 80s name, I’d be really surprised if I heard anyone use it for a baby born in 2021 as it’s just so dated here. Similar names in style and vibe to me would be names like Stacey, Chantelle, Kelly, Chelsea, Leanne, Jodie, Courtney, Kimberley and Gemma.

I think Kayley is pretty in sound but it's not substantial. It's like fast fashion. It's just going to fall apart.

I think it's just about the definition of cutesy without being an actual cutesy word like Poppy or Angel. It's just vapid, and the leigh spelling looks like it's trying to look like it isn't vapid. Like the stereotypical blonde bimbo walking around with a copy of a Stephen Hawking book to show everybody who smart she is but she hasn't actually read any of it and never will because she can't read anything more complicated than a tweet from her favorite reality star.

Where I live it's usually spelled Kailey or Kaylee with some other variations like Caylee, Kaley, Cailey etc, both Kayleigh and Kaylee & most of the others I dislike but I like Kailey alright, looks less trendy & more sensible imo probably because of its similarity to Hailey which I'm not in love with necessarily but I am accustom to.
