Mimi, to me and most South Africans with an interest in music, means Mimi Coertse, who was a lead soprano with the Vienna State Opera for over 20 years. Glorious voice! Her given names are Maria Sophia, but she's always used Mimi professionally. She is very old now, and has Alzheimer's, but the recordings live on.
