[Opinions] Brooke vs. Blake
Both for girls.Which do you prefer, and why? You can't say "neither". **middle aged woman who angers easily**

I will say "neither" until my dying day. Sorry, but they are really on a par with each other, and I can't stand either.

I like Brooke! It's preppy, but aside from that it's cheerful and nice. I don't like Blake at all, either gender.

Brooke. I still think of Blake as masculine.

Brooke. I don't like it, but it sounds pretty assertive-neutral, I guess. Like a boxy grey jacket.Blake is Blair + Jake + flake.
It's like ripped acid wash jeans that cost $300.
It is kind of neat the two potential meanings are essentially opposite (pale and black), though.

Brooke.I prefer Blake as a middle name for a boy so it’s more handsome then it is pretty. Brooke is decent at most.

Brooke! It's not a "pretty" sound, kinda surnamey/pretentious and businesslike - but it is somehow light and breezy. Like Lark or Britt.Blake gives me a dated-television vibe. It's almost a parody of preppiness.
And its sound: Blehck.
I think Blair is nicer than Blake.

Brooke sounds like a wealthy mean girl in teen movies. I hate it.

To me, that's exactly how Blake sounds.
Brooke would be a rich brat who is friendless and pretty, but not mean.
Blake : Brooke :: Tiffany : Kimberly

That's very interesting. Blake to me is the preppy (everage income) kid, maybe because I knew someone like that but Blake was a guy.

I'll officially put you in Blake's corner, then. :)

Hahaha, okay! :D

Oh man I like both. I'm going to pick Blake because it feels more current and I like the edge to it.

Brooke, but I don’t like either.

Brooke. I love it and it’s always been one of my faves. I honestly hate Blake, even on a boy.

Definitely Brooke. It might have started out unisex, but it never got much use on boys and is and pretty much always has been known as a girls' name. Blake is sometimes used on girls, and I actually know a female Blake in her early thirties, but it's all boy to me.

BlakeI like Blake better. The name has really grown on me since watching The 100. Also Brooke is overused; where I used to live, at least.

BlakeFor William Blake. That's what I'd tell myself. I dislike Brooke a lot. I'd pair it with something outrageously Romantic, or another surname of someone outrageously Romantic.

Okay, you've convinced me that Blake is redeemable. Blake Reverie? Blake Illuminata? Blake Wisteria? Blake Fiammetta?

Well, when I first had the idea, Millais' Ophelia came to mind, so I thought maybe Blake Ophelia, or even Blake Everett or Blake Millais. I rather like the idea of a trendy, brittle name like Blake Everett on-a-girl having more Romantic roots. Blake Reverie is so bad it's great. In that vein, since I'm naming a person who will never exist:Blake Saint Agnes Eve
Blake Rossetti
Blake Lovelace
Blake Nightingale
Blake Mnemosyne
Blake Lilias
Blake Eismeer ("sea of ice", from the Friedrich painting)

Saint Agnes Eve is a great MN.

Blake Illuminata made me shudder. I feel like I'd rather see it with something more like
Blake Jolene
Blake Nevaeh
Blake Autumn
Blake Audra

Blake Autumn is the first combo I can stand.

BrookeBlake is a boy's name. Not unisex or gender neutral.

BrookeI hate both, but Brooke is less strident and sounds less cheap than Blake.

I think I'd like Blake more if it actually did sound cheap to me.
