I personally don't like it. It's like Courtney and Britney. Not my style, I think the sound is ugly - and it's also out of style.
I feel like it's Southern-ish (which isn't a bad thing but it's something I think about it). Probably because the only Whitneys I've known are from Georgia and Florida.
I went and looked to see if my stereotype might be accurate or not. I checked the SSA ranking by state in 1986 (the peak year of popularity). Sure enough it was most popular in the South. But also in Utah, Montana, and Wyoming.

I always liked it. One of my sisters in law is Whitney Brooke.

I think it's kind of dated, it might be a nice vintage-style choice in a few more years but right now it seems a bit stale. It also just doesn't seem all that substantial to me.
