It seems sort of awkward to me because I'm so used to Neil (there's a couple in my family) but also because of that, it seems fancy in a fun way.

Neil seems like a bland old-fashioned name to me but likable enough: sort of like Kenneth or Alan, which would make Niall like Cinaed or Alain.
