[Opinions] WDYT of Delta?
Delta has always been a name I liked. I always liked it in reference to a river delta. With the Delta variant of COVID going around, is Delta unusable now?

I sort of like it because of Delta Burke. I never followed the show but I just thought she was really cute on Designing Women.
I primarily think of the song "Delta Dawn," which was turned into a hit when I was a small child and got heavy mainstream radio play throughout my childhood (the Helen Reddy version).
So I feel like it's ultra Southern, and always just assumed it refers to the Mississippi Delta (even though the song is about someone from Tennessee, I never noticed that. I was from California).
I also slightly think of the Greek letter delta (symbolizing an increment of change?) and the tri-delta sorority. But that's not something that would affect the image of the name for a person, imo.
I can't even connect it with the virus thing at all.

I think of Delta airlines, then a river delta, then a name, then the COVID variant, but that could move into number 3.

I really like Delta. I think the delta variant of COVID-19 will be short-lived enough that it won't affect how people respond to the name Delta in the long run. I do realize that the delta variant is a horrible thing but it's just that I think people's long-term memories aren't that great.

I don’t like it but not because of the virus. My first thought is of the Greek Letter then the airlines. Nothing against the airline but I don’t like naming people after commercial products or companies.

Not really, but I didn’t like it beforehand either, it’s just a letter of the Greek alphabet.

It feels turn of the century. Alpha, Delta, Zeta, and Theta all entered the charts sometime between 1890 and 1920. I guess the Greek alphabet was trendy then lolAlso feels dated because the only Delta I know of is Delta Burke, from Designing Women in the 80s. My mom loved that show so I know it well!I think of all of the Greek alphabet that Delta is perhaps the most usable, maybe tied with Theta. Well, Zeta isn't bad either. Reminds me of Ziva. Alpha is completely unusable though imo

I don't think it was ever usable lol. It doesn't sound like a real name, code name maybe. I don't think the Delta variant affects it much tho, it's not as spoken about as 'Corona'.

Delta is spoken around here a lo, don't here about the airlines though. Only know of Delta Goodram. I wouldn't use the name

Agreed, but especially because of Delta Airlines too
