[Opinions] Katie
I was reading about The Duggars and they have a new wife, Katey. I don’t like that spelling. What’s your fave version of Katie? What do you think of it? I’m okay with Katie and love this name as a child.

It is just Jed Duggar who married Katey. The rest of the family didn't marry her. I don't care for the spelling Katey either.Katie is cute. It has had a lot of use, but, if it were my first time encountering it, I think I would consider it spritely and cute. Regretfully, I've known so many women and girls named Katie that it feels very worn.

Katie is a fine name, though a little boring. I also liked it as a kid, probably because my mn is Kate. Katie is definitely my fave spelling.

Katey is just Katey Sagal to me, so much that it’s almost a “one person only” spelling to me. I don’t like the spelling either. I actually like Katie a lot.

I prefer Katie. I’m actually starting to prefer it to Kate. It is very 90s, but it’s like Sarah. It’s not ever going to be out of style like, say, Tiffany, or something that came out of nowhere.

I understand what you're saying about it never being out of style because it's based on a traditional name that's been used for centuries. I'm not sure I agree, though, because of all the alternative nicks there are for Katherine, Kathryn, Katrina and the other variants. Kathy used to be the go-to nn but that went out about the time that Katie (and its various spellings) came in.

Katie is okay. I feel neutral on it. I do agree with RoxStar that it’s way too cutesy though.

Katey is a hopeless attempt to make a cliche of a nn into something new and interesting. And will doom her to a lifetime of explanations. I prefer Katie, but there have been so many of them in this millennium so far that I'm willing to go back to Kathy or, preferably, Kitty instead.

The spelling immediately calls to mind Katey Sagal, who played Peg Bundy on Married … With Children."I don't like the spelling because it seems unnecessary. But I can't stand the name Katie in any form anyway; it's so obnoxiously, aggressively cute, like a kid with fat pink chipmunk cheeks and pigtails and a lollipop and always giggling over nothing.

Katey is my favourite spelling. I also like Katie. I think it's really lovely but seems kind of generic to me but think it's becoming less so as we're moving away from the 90's.
