[Opinions] The Gale Quadruplets
Jean, June, Joan, & JaneThey were a vaudeville act. June later became an actress and married Oscar Levant. They had three daughters - Marcia, Amanda, and Lorna. I can't imagine how they kept those names straight! My daughter and I are trying to say them together and it's almost a tongue twister.

Actually 2 Sets of TwinsThey weren't actually quadruplets at all. They were two sets of twins: Lenore & Lorraine Gilmartin and Helen & Doris Gilmartin (this link doesn't say if they were related: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Gale). Only heaven knows why they those those stage names!

Because it was cutesy and catchy more stage-y than their real names. I mean, here we are, still talking about them, lol.

Lenore and Lorraine must have grown up with a taste for tongue-twisters.And I imagine they chose those stage names in the hope that, many years later, people would still be staring at them and marvelling.

I can't stand when sibling names are so close together! Makes life so difficult. But individually, I like Jane and June. June is a favorite of mine. I don't particularly like Marcia, Amanda, or Lorna. Lorna is my favorite, though.

That's crazy close, especially for multiples, I don't like siblings with the same initial Marcia and Lorna are ok. I like Amanda

What about siblings who have the same initial but it is pronounced differently? I'm Georgia and my brother is Garrett. I never have thought our names are too similar.

Jean is better as a middle name.June is bright and happy and lovely, and I wish it would make a comeback.Joan is strong and not the prettiest of the bunch, but I *notice* it.Jane is feminine in a way that isn't overly frilly like an 1830's evening gown (can you tell I've been reading a ton of articles on fashion history?).I never liked Marcia much, but it's fine. Amanda has become one of my very favorite names, which surprises me. Lorna is like a foggy evening on an English moor. Or something.I guess the parents wanted the quads to have similar names, because cuteness? But yeah, it IS hard to keep track of them all. There are so many great names out there, why limit yourself so much when you have four daughters to name?Oh, well.

I love June, too. I know someone with a young June, she was named after her grandmother. It really is a bright, sunny, happy name.It looks like those weren't their real names, al but June never went by anything else.If you get a chance look up Oscar Levant. He was fascinating.

Amanda is actually a really nice name, right?? It snuck up on me too, although it's not one of my very favourites.

My brother wanted to name his eldest Amanda Rose. He ended up agreeing to his wife's choice of Brianna Lynn. Brianna is very happy they didn't go with Amanda, I suppose it would have been the same as me being named Stephanie or naming my daughter Lindsay.

I... hate that they're all four letter J names. As if they're a part of a set and not individuals. I don't mind themed sibling names, but this is such a drag.I don't like any of the names Jean, June, Joan or Jane, but June and Oscar chose some nice names. I like Marcia and Lorna, but especially Amanda.
