I want to like this name because of the gloriously pagan meaning, but I can't dissociate it from "son of a b****."

It's pretty. I love names with -oo- sound: Suvi, Sunniva, Souline, etc.

I love this. Solveig & Sunniva are my two favorite Scandinavian names.

I haven't met a Sunniva, which I find a bit odd. Scandinavian names are common around here - I know a Haakon, Siri, Soren, Odin, and Solveig off the top of my head, but no Sunnivas.

I think it looks and sounds incredibly pretty and bright. My only concern is that it may be mispronounced by people who aren’t familiar with it, and make it sound like the beginning of a swear. Obviously it’s easily corrected though, and truly is beautiful.

I had actually used this as the name of a character, a twin sister to a Wassa. But I was told by my beta readers that it was confusing because they thought Sunniva was an Indian name and they didn't get why one twin was Welsh and the other Indian... :/ Both were described as Welsh but I still got that question.

I love it! Have for awhile now. And it comes with some cute nicknames - Sunny (I know it's different pronunciation, but same meaning) and Niva or Neev.
It has a beautiful meaning and "spunky elegance" (a category not many names seem to fit into).
