I don't mind it.I hear this name occasionally, but its initial popularity is long gone. When I think of this name I think of two actresses:Gemma Chan and Arterton.

I’ve always liked this name and Gem makes such a cute nn.

Yes, it feels British and weirdly also Italian at the same time.I like it okay. It is less boring than Emma. But I am not a huge fan of the J-sound in many cases. It sounds a bit harsh and choppy. But I like the meaning. It also feels a bit tired and dated. I think in the UK it's a 70s/80s/early 90s name. And it sounds so much like Emma.

Gemma does sound very British, but it also reminds me of Harry Styles' gorgeous older sister, so I like it!

Dated in the UK. Very 80s. I don’t like it much.

I like this name. There‘s an actress named Gemma (can’t remember her last name) who used to be on this British soap opera.

I love it. To me, it feels very British, like Georgina, Imogen, Poppy and Freya. It's dated in the UK, but feels new in the States.

Gemma does feel very distinctly British to me to, along with Tamsin, Philippa, Poppy, Nicola, Jemima, Carys, and Imogen. Very 90s British.I like it though, I think it's pretty.

Definitely another stamped British name to me. Along with Ellie. The name itself is pretty. I can see the appeal.

Ellie being British...I am in the UK and I can think, off the top of my head, thirteen Ellie's under the age of 30 and four under fifty. We're inundated with Ellie's.
